I have to do the youth sports thing in the morning but don't want to miss the 3:30 kick. What is the latest I can leave the Pgh area and not miss the kickoff? How bad is traffic getting to Beaver Stadium?

Depends on what direction you'll come in from and where you park. Pretty sure they'll have shuttles but especially sure if it rains. I suggest coming in via Rte 45 and Pine Grove Mills. The back roads aren't bad through there and most of the locals know it's a good way to come in and avoid the mess. Plus you won't have to park in a pasture if you come in that way.

Wait til it gets closer to game day to make plans.

They have paw prints on the road to help their drivers determine distance between cars!
The paw prints work great!
After 300 beers or 150 shots follow the paw prints and ignore brake lights?
Not many park your car and walk to your Northshore or mass transit acessible hotel.
Nitterville!

That looks like the aftermath of little boy butt prints on their road.

Those cars did some rhythmic slapping.

Leaving late may help. Most people get there early and tailgate.

With a 3:30 kickoff traffic will not be bad coming in. It really spreads it out because some will arrive when the lots open at 8am and others will arrive at 3 PM. The security lines at the stadium will hold you up more than traffic if it was the way it was last year. Personally I would leave no later than 11 if possible from Pittsburgh. I do think you could be at the stadium by 3:30 if you left at noon. What I would do is come up 322 and get off onto atherton street and park in one of the garages on campus. They are a quick walk to the stadium and never very crowded because people like tailgate.
