No doubt they should have gotten the death penalty. I don't root against them because we used to be huge rivals or because I'm jealous they have 107,000 steel benches, I root against them because loyal Penn Staters tried to make it out like others were "victims", many times saying the real victims weren't even victims at all. Their coach stinks, though. Most who know anything about him know his strengths are recruiting and motivating and his weakness is gameday coaching. He will face coaches with more talent and that are better on gameday, so any PSU fan thinking this cat will get them to be a national power will be waiting a long time.

Pitt had the youngest roster in college football last year from the constant roster turnover that comes w/ coaching changes. You don't see us using it as an excuse.

I once thought that too, but there is no improvement since he took over. I will concur if he can beat Michigan or MSU or lose by a few. Franklin might just not be able to take over a Top 15 Program and keep it there. We shall see! Florida, USC, Nebraska, Arkansas all had pretty good Programs and many 4 & 5 Star Recruits, yet their coaching was or is lacking. They had all of last year and these 7 games to improve, and not seeing it? Look at Harbaugh how he took over, or Coach Rod at WVU. sure it took 1 or 2 years by CoachRod, but then it was Top 10 Winning? Do you see the same in Franklin? It is just an opinion and no right or wrong, just a discussion?

The sanctions argument is just whining basically. Forget the fact they were incredibly lenient, did Ohio State not receive sanctions? Maybe not as bad, but Meyer comes in and while not eligible for a bowl leads the team to an undefeated season. Penn State has talent (not at QB though, thought to be a strength by their fans entering the season) but bad coaching.

Yes, it usually takes time to build a winner. But James from State College strikes me as the type of guy that if still employed in 5 years, he will still be making excuses then.

Our wins are against YSU (3-3) Akron (3-4) VaTech (3-4) Virginia (2-4) and GaTech (2-5) and most of our victories are a touchdown or less. So if you want to discount what Franklin did at Vandy, by saying he didn't beat anybody, the exact same thing can be said about Narduzzi. And that wasn't exactly a coaching gem we saw in Atlanta Saturday.
