Has roots in Pittsburgh, has recruited some great OL prospects in the 2021 class.

Rumor has it he never wamed up to Franklin.

I'm intrigued where he may end up. The guy can coach.

Their OL play was not good when Barkley was there; he made those guys look a lot better than they were. And, they were often inconsistent this year. They are moving on from this coach because it just never fully clicked with him.

I don't think it's Franklin. Limegrover was fired at Minnesota and replaced by PSU's new OC so I'd guess that's the issue. I don't know he'd take another OL position and possibly thought he'd be in line for the OC position at PSU. He had an offer to be a HC when he went to PSU.

He inherited a unit that was in bad shape and was at least bringing in some guys. They had invested pretty heavily in the right equipment and techniques. They were moving the right way. They sure weren't losing games because they couldn't block.

Speaking of OL. whatever happened to that 4 or 5 star OL who picked them over us years ago? He apparently couldn’t even make all district but based on size and potential got a 4 or 5 star rating.

Limegrover should take all of the blame for that lousy rucking performance by PSU in the bowl game that doesn’t matter at all. Only 390 yards. He could have done better and some of those holes that the offensive linemen opened up were 4-5 feet wide. Just not up to Franklin Standards

my guess is the new offensive coordinator who just worked his magic at Minnesota didn’t want him around.

Franklin is a turd

In the subject of Franklin, with 20 seconds left he is on camera yelling about something. The announcers are talking about how he coaches non stop and to the very last second. They were winning by 20 or so points. It was all for show. Then after his gatorade bath he wrestled one of his players to the ground all in fun. What BS. He knew he was in camera. He just loves his players. Blah Blah Blah.

he is garbage. Not saying he isn’t successful as a coach but it’s a phony act

You don't have to like Franklin at all. Doesn't mean its an act. His players seem to love him and play hard for him. Both at Vandy and PSU he motivates his players to play to the end. Nothing wrong with coaching to the end. Lead by example and expect the same from your players.

PSU can do no wrong unfortunately. When a coach leaves for a HC gig or a coach leaves/gets fired, it's always for the better for them. PSU hired like Army's WR coach last year or two years ago, and it was lauded as such a great hire. Army throws the ball 5 times a game ha. Flagship station my butt ha.

He is a Pittsburgh guy. Probably has established recruiting relationships. Coached the O-line well enough to be in the top 30 the last 2 years. The way I see it, it’s an upgrade over Borbely.
Lemme get this strait. You want to get rid of Borbs because the line sucked and replace him with a guy who got canned because his line sucked.

If you dig deeper you see his OL played better as this season went on.

If the guy can recruit OL, I would be very interested.

And you know this how? I love how guys say it all an act but have never even met the guy. If you believe all the internet tough guys out there every coach is an act and doesn’t care for their players. The only coach that does is their own coach.

Do not understand why Pitt's flagship does not have more Pitt graduates. The only ones that are Pitt alum are Dickerson, BOSTICK, Ziese??? Of course Bill Hillgrove is a big Pitt fan. But then you have Pitt critics Hagman, Filaponni, Ron Cook ( who did NOT vote for Fitzgeald for Heirmann) . You think Thr Fan would make a greater attempt to have more Pitt friendly guys.

You're posting this in the same thread where they question why Franklin was upset at the 20 second mark when his all everything WR took a knee on 3rd down 3 yards short of the first down marker. Duhhh!

I dont know if he would be a significant improvement over Barboly(sp) but our oline coach is bad and needs to be replaced. If he isnt then our line won't be any better next year.

I don’t know that his line did suck. Top 30 running game sounds a hell of a lot better than our running game. And they are a read option offense, so technically a lot harder to block the run when you are trying to show pass. On top of that, last I checked, we don’t have an abundance of earthmovers coming in this recruiting class.

Limegrower is a Pittsburgh native, and a PCC grad. He is by all accounts a great guy. Looks like the new OC wants to bring in his his own guy, though, and for what they are paying him he is going to be able to do what he wants with his position coaches, to a certain extent.

In truth, though, PSU's offensive line is littered with 4 and 5 star recruits that have not been terribly impressive. He's a good recruiter, though.

PSU’s line didn’t suck.

I know several PSU folks who wanted him gone. I don't believe he's highly thought of, maybe only by Pitt fans who want PSU's trash.

Limegrover was fired. The O line could not pass block with Clifford rarely having a clean pocket to throw out of. As the season wore on there was no improvement, and it’s a veteran O line to begin with. Can’t even pick up basic stunts. It was particularly bad against Memphis where Penn State’s 4* players could not handle Memphis’ 2 stars. They could run the ball, but pass protection was an adventure. Once the new OCord was hired, the writing was on the wall
