Pitt Coach Pat Narduzzi said last year, Pitt is not far off from being a Championship Team and before the Clemson Game Coach Pat added this year, this would be a good measurement of how his Players respond, improve and play with the Best to be the Best.

This was proven tonight that Pitt Football Program with Coach Pat & Staff and their Players. Pitt was not lucky against Clemson, it was Away Game, and they stayed with the National Champions just like Clemson stayed with Bama Tonight!

Pitt Alumni, Posters, and Fans have nothing but respect for Clemson & Bama Coaches, Players, and Teams. Therefore, by no means bragging just grateful to play and watch such Excellent Programs, Coaches & Players provide College Football and America with a superb game.

Pitt still has a way to go with added consistency required with better execution but the Coaching is there showing they can beat the Top 5 & 10 Teams now not later.

In 2015, I quoted to describe Pitt Football Programs...."So Little Done & So Much More to Do! much, In this Season of 2016, my quote went to, "So Little Done & So More To Do!, but in 2017, I will quote, "So More To Do & Pitt Will Do it!"

Congratulations, Dabo Swinney's Clemson Tigers in earning the National Championship in 2016-17 & Winning The ACC Conference Champions, and Beating Ohio State's Urban Meyers a previous National Champion Coach, and Bama's Nick Saban a 5-1 National Champions Coach.

Felicitations Coach Saban Alabama Crimson Tide SEC and College Football Playoffs #2 Runners Ups and Best Winning Program the last Ten Years and many more to come.

Kudo's To Ohio State Urban Meyer's reaching another College Football Playoff Invite & Penn State Coach Franklin for Winning the Big Ten!

Still Thank you Pitt Coach Pat Narduzzi for beating Clemson that Beat Alabama and Ohio State and Beating Big Ten Champion Penn State.

As I see it, 2016 turned out to be great year to watch Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, and hope more of the same in 2017!

If Pitt compares itself with others, it may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser teams than itself. Enjoy her achievements as well as her plans.
Pitt is a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, Pitt has a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to us, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

If you told me 3, 2, or 1 years ago that Pitt would Beat the National Champions and ACC Conference Champions and Big Ten Champions that is a Final Top 10 Ranked Team, plus barley lose by 3 and 7 points, to 3 other Ranked Teams, I would have asked WHAT UNIVERSE ARE YOU LIVING IN THESE DAYS???? Yet, it is Reality!

Coach Narduzzi is actually ahead of schedule!

So Much Done And Pitt Will Get It Done!

Agree we need to beat UNC, VT and Miami on a regular basis....Then we will be close....However, beating PSU and Clemson take the sting out of some of those losses.

A little disappointing we ended with eight wins, could have been better for sure. But you could offer to trade the Clemson win for two of our losses (say Ok St and NC) to finish 9-4 and I don't do it. Putting the sole loss on the NC is special. And its not like our win was a fluke....we beat them at their game in their house. A lot to be proud of this season.

I'm glad Clemson was able to rebound after losing to us and gain momentum through to the NC game. They are very deserving of the NC (especially considering how close they were to it last year).

very true and considering that on paper Pitt was so so this year but if you look closer a team with no real defense did very well

Pitt will have a D next year a better QB (no really) and as much as we love Conner our backs next year will do better and the O line will not fall off much at all

after we beat Ped State Pitt sb be around 11or 12 in the polls

Hail to Pitt

There was not much difference between Pitt 8-5, Penn State 11-3, and WVU 10-3 all year long and all 3 lost their Bowl Games.

As you stated, Pitt had 8 Close Wins with a terrific Offense, and had close 5 Losses due to an Inconsistent Defense and bolster by Superb Special Teams. The Closes were against UNC, VT, OKST, and NU, and Turnovers in Third Quarter against Miami that took the game over in 4th.

Penn State had 11 Close Wins after Half-Times Offenses and Defenses along with 2 Close Losses early against PITT and Last against USC, and played against some mighty low Teams with 2 and 3 Wins in Purdue, Rutgers, and MSU but not competitive all game long against Michigan. The Ohio State, Wisky, and Minnesota OT Close Wins were terrific too. Maryland and Indiana Wins were much like PITT against Syracuse and Duke.

WVU beat every Big-12 with a Losing Record that was 6 Teams, plus Missouri and YSU, but barely Beat KSu and BYU by 1 and 3 Close Win again, and blown away by OKST, OU, and Miami?

There was not much difference and Pitt beat the Highest ranked Teams, more than PSU not by much either, and if they play again would be close wins or losses. I credit PSU winning the Big Ten and beating Ohio State by a Blocked Kick on Defense, WVU being in the Top 20 but lost to OKST & Miami too like Pitt except Pitt played OKST far better, and Pitt, Penn state and WVU results together not much difference when looking the scores and how they won and against whom in 2016.

I see much of the same in 2017 and congratulate PSU for being a Top 10 team, WVU Top 20, and Pitt beating Clemson and Pen State outright as well as USC beat them except USC came from behind and PITT never lost the Lead.

All 3 Programs returned to Winning with WVU having 6th Year Coach at WVU and established Program when he started in 2011, Penn State having 3rd Year Coach at PSU after Sanctions, and 6th Year Coach with his First 3 Years at Vandy losing to Northwestern twice with a New Staff and established Program, and Pitt with just his Second Year as a coach and trying to rebuild a Program.

Next year, PSU is almost all back and 30-1 to make NCS Playoff, WVU is 60-1, and Pitt 300-1 but none are near the 3-1. 7-1, 8-1, and 8-1 Teams so We Shall See in 2017?

Definitely a great season in my book. Loved watching this team, and this coaching staff.
Same with WVU & PSU too! None are that much better or behind each other either.

All 3 had Heart Stopping Wins and Disappointing Losses on what might have been But Pit did beat the #1 Team that beat everyone with their own close Wins and One Close loss to Pitt.

The only Blow Out were Michigan destroying Penn State all game long from start to finish badly, follow3ed WVU losing OU, OKST, and Miami the same way but not as Bad, and Pitt having Turnovers in 3rd and 4th Quarter in Miami that ended up with Bad Loss. Every other single game for all 3 Programs were Wins, Close Wins, and Close Losses?

Anyone that watches Football know that and Pitt, Penn State and WVU played right with the Top 5-10-25 Best in 2016 in Clemson, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, and Kansas State.

Great Year and better years to come for all 3 too.

Phil Steele had predicted Pitt to go 8-4. I've read his magazine for years and he is the best of the forecasters IMO. He nailed it, although I doubt he expected Clemson to be one of Pitt's wins, as he ranked the Tigers #5, first team out of the playoff. (Steele had FSU beating Bama, with Oklahoma and, I think LSU, as the other semifinalists.

When we look back on the 2016 Panthers years from now, those two big W's will be what we remember best. Not a near-miss at Carolina, meltdown at Miami or a bummer in the Bronx.
