Not really. The point is being the better program and PSU went 11-2, won the B1G, and is going to the Rose Bowl. I'd trade a loss to them for 11-2, ACC title, and an Orange Bowl berth 100 times out of 100. Right now, their program is ahead of ours and Franklin is doing a very good job recruiting.
The sad part is there are dozens of fans who would rather go 1-11 if it meant Pitt beat PSU.

We have won more than lost to PSU in western PA, even the past 2 years. Just because, Wade, whos family were psu fans, went to PSU, you are going to bellyache?? It is dumb. Plus, it seems we get the good kids. All the crazy kids that want to make some big deal out of a verbal seem to always go to state penn... I am happy to let them, how many went on to perform well in the NFL from that route? I can think of Sean Lee, and he was one of the most decent recruiting battles out there, was a good kid out of hs.

That is like saying... penn state is a better football team than pitt this year, and a logical person will say "ummm... Pitt beat them" and you say, well they are ranked 5th Pitt is 22nd.
We beat them head to head in recruiting last year, no doubt. This year, no doubt they have the upper hand in recruiting. It isnt over yet though.
The only way that this would be resolved to everyone's satisfaction is if they swapped schedules, and that ain't gonna happen.
So the only other way to make the call is by head-to-head competition - and we all know how that turned out.

It is the battles in western PA we are talking about. And in particular should be the ones where kids actually narrowed the choices down to pitt/psu and whoever else.
You do make a valid point when you say recruits and coaches want to play in front of supportive fans. Is it any wonder the local media bashes Pitt when some of its own fan base does the same thing? It makes PS, WV, and some Pitt fans happy. Always looking for something negative.

PS is almost always going to recruit better than Pitt. They have fans that support their players and coaches both financially and by their attendance. The biggest scandal in all of college sports was a speed bump for them. You would think PS fans would have disdain and disgust for their program, but they don't. It is strange - Pitt fans and PS should actually swap their mentality. Pitt fans should be proud and supportive of their team and PS fans ashamed, but it isn't that way.

Now, no denying PSU is, has, and will do well recruiting all over PA, just like Alabama recruits even around Auburn... Some people just raise their kids wrong, you cant change that. But when you look at WPIAL greats, they are littered with PITT greats not PSU greats.

I agree with you that Pitt fans should put all of their time, $, and energy towards Pitt. If they created a $ jar for every time someone mentioned PS for no valid reason, then we would have enough $ for a stadium.
We did? On this site they were #23 and we were #31 and they had a higher average star rating. In the composite rankings PSU was #20 and we were #30 and they had a higher average player rating. Now, neither of those classes was fantastic or (IMO) clearly much better than the other, but we certainly didn't "beat them head to head in recruiting last year, no doubt."

We offered essentially every player in their (much better) recruiting class. Why are you trying to turn this into just a WPIAL evaluation? That doesn't matter. What matters is overall results. They have been beating us there. Hopefully our coaches will catch up and make up for the deficiency with coaching over the next few years, until the talent is better.

I think it is because PSU undercoaches their higher rated players. This goes back to JoePa. I was banned on BWI for asking this back when JoePa was losing in the early-mid 2000s with those top 10 recruiting classes: Are they overrated or undercoached? Never did get that question answered. The real answer as we know is they were all distracted by much going on up there at the time.
PSU's whole class is head to head, but you tried to change the argument to just WPIAL. That is your MO. You just try to warp the argument. NO ONE else was talking about Western PA. You can't just quote someone actually talking (correctly) about one thing and then change the argument and call them wrong.

This season, Pitt has 21 players in the NFL. Alabama leads with 64, and Penn State has 40. Not sure what you mean by "killing all other colleges."
the point is that you are comparing two teams that played two different schedules to make a determination of one program being better than the other. If Penn State played Pitt's schedule this year they are the champs of nothing...if would trade a win against psu for a meaningless exhibition game in Florida be my guest... No, PSU won more games, won their conference, and is recruiting much better than we are. Every poll is comparing the two and saying they are better.
I said I would much rather lose to PSU and have their season results than win and have ours because I care about Pitt being successful far more than I care about PSU's failures.
