That building is being surrounded by new high rise housing and hotel development. Even if only an investment buy, the value of land is skyrocketing along those adjacent blocks and should continue to climb with the completion of the current construction.

Pitt should buy every single speck of land that goes up for sale in Oakland, every single piece. I have said for years that Pitt needs to buy every single home/apartment building in South Oakland over the course of 40-50 years so that one day way off in the future, when they own most of South Oakland, they can bulldoze it, build nicer apartments, and expand the campus

Then they can secede from the City. Hell, by that time, they might have more people.
