Pitt Tonight host interviews Chancellor & AD about stadium & paying athletes

Guess what? A lot of former Pitt fans have done just that. Great advice. Maybe Pitt can get down to no fans ! Who needs them.
Done what? Gone to a game, enjoyed themselves and not worried about the size of the crowd? Did you read my post?

If the color of the seats bothers you to the point where it is going to effect how good of a time you are having, you need to find a new hobby.

You guys need to do what I do. Go to the game, have a few cold ones pre game, go inside heinz, relax and enjoy the game, take in the experience, enjoy the fact you aren't at work, realize that life is pretty good, cheer your team on, sing someneil diamond then go home. This is supposed to be fun.

Right. It's really a win-win. If it's a large, smoking crowd, it means it's the (highly rare) "Big game", which is a cool thing to experience, even if it does mean somewhat inconvenience coming in and out of the NS, concessions, rest room etc. Flip side, if it's a regular old (lame) game, well, that's not quite as "exciting" maybe, but you at least have a more leisurely experience with traffic and express service at the concessions and troughs... Win-win!

My man.

The odd thing about that sold out crowd was that a couple thousand people apparently bought the worst tickets in the house, the upper corner end zone seats, in the days leading up to the game and then they ALL decided to not show up, thus leaving rows and rows of empty seats at the top of several sections.

I always wondered why so many people would buy tickets to a game right before kickoff like that and then all decide not to actually go to the game. Seems odd to me, but it must have happened, because the game was sold out.

Maybe all of their multiple charter buses broke down at the same time.

that cincy game crowd was awesome. I have no clue what you guys are babbling about. you are worried about 5k open seats? at any given time during a pitt or steeler game, there are 5k people getting food, taking a leak or hanging out in the great hall. never will everyone be sat in their seats..

I'd take that crowd every single time. plus it was snowing but wasn't windy, it was that good snow too, not that slushy crap that falls down the crack of your back or soaks you.

It's unreal how insecure college fans have become. I don't even know why they bother being fans, it gives them nothing but anxiety.

Attendance, yearly conference payout $, academic ranking by magazines, ect...it all burns them up.

I enjoy the games. Win or lose I'm drunk and mostly happy. It's nothing more than a temporary distraction from real life. If WVU wins the national championship next year, my life doesn't change.

I have some college friends I gave up watching games with. They make it an unbearable experience.

listen, I prioritize pitt football way more than I should, more than a normal human being should. but we as pitt fans seem to dwell on the negatives and discount the positives.

to get spiritual for a sec, one day in the distant future (I hope), we'll all be on our proverbial death beds and looking back at our lives, we'll think back at some of these sporting events, time spent with buddies/family, watching our team play and it will, it SHOULD, be a positive reflection. we wont be laying on the bed, hooked up to IVs, pissed off that the corner sections of Heinz were empty for a 3pm ACC game in 2016 or that there were way too many pitt fans still drinking in the parking lots and not in their seats for kickoff against new Hampshire in 2017. I hope not anyways, that would be ridiculous..

It was a great crowd. A crowd that tried willing that team to the BCS. It felt like a Steelers playoff game. My favorite atmosphere game without question.

That said, there is a subgroup of our fan base that has been damn near obsessed with re-writing history and making that game a packed house. It wasn't. I spent the first half in the upper deck home sideline near the 20 and had tons of empty seats near me. We were at probably 60,000 for that game, which is still great for Pitt football, but this group continues to scream "fake news" when you bring this up.

No one's enjoyment of the game is changed one little bit if the game was a standing room only sell out or if there were 60,000 people there. So why not try something novel and tell the truth? It's been so long since Pitt has tried it that most people probably wouldn't recognize it anyway.

multiple videos online of that cincy game.. easy enough to youtube it and watch the camera scan the crowd. I see a lot of blue, some red and very little yellow. sellout, not sellout, butts in seats, tickets sold vs turnstile, doesn't matter to me, very little difference to be honest. that crowd was rockin, ROCKIN..

DAMN YOU WANNY. I still remember that feeling post game. I went up to Lebo saloon, my buddy was bartender. I just sat down, he was laughing, he knew where I was. I just asked him to pour me the biggest shot of jameson that is legally allowed in the state of PA. he poured me a 1/2 pint glass that I gulped down in one swoop.. the rest of the day is fuzzy..

I honestly don't remember seeing many empty seats or much yellow of that game. I was in the concession line right before halftime and saw the kick return and went, "Oh no." Couldn't believe it.

I found these pics online and I do see empty seats in the upper endzone. I didn't remember that.
