Pitt vs BC Gamethread

Sorry man, that’s not how it works. This number kept edging up due to sharp play on Pitt, not total money. Books that I know of here in Vegas actually need Pitt slightly or have no real decision on the game.
??? Of course it works that way. How the hell would you know who would pay them off

I do like the fact that we have a kicker who has made eight field goals over 50 yards with a long of 56 and they have the "field goal line" on the field at the 28 yard line.

Piss poor use of the clock and timeouts. We may not have Clemson talent but we sure don’t need coaching that makes these kids jobs harder

Just horrible clock management and settling for a 55 yard attempt is just unacceptable I am really ready to move on from Narduzzi and for sure Whipple

The good news is that they didn’t play really well...had some bad fumble review calls...and they’re only down by 3.

Clearly. You only climb out of the trash can on days when things are challenging. Pitt is up 10 if the officiating is even 75% competent.

This is like the old BigEast. Fugly football against mediocre teams. No fans. Fugly uniforms. Bad media production. A constant ambiance of utter irrelevance.

time management on that drive was horrific
We should have called to on defense, but not sure how we had poor clock management on offense. Pickett isn’t the brightest guy in that regard, but he didn’t do anything out of the ordinary

So with a proper replay official we are up 14-7 now.

We are hitting hard, had some coverage lapse, few dropped ints, but overall we are playing better, getting good push, been some nice adjustments on both sides of the ball for us.

OK, so it wouldn't have probably made a difference anyway, but we have 3rd and 21 on our own 49 yard line. We complete a pass for 14 yards to the 37 yard line. BC is called for pass interference. If we take the penalty it's 1st and 10 from the 36, if we decline the penalty it's 4th and 7 from the BC 37. Can anyone explain to me why we declined the penalty?

As I said, it probably doesn't matter anyway. But taking the penalty makes the field goal one yard shorter and if something bizarre were to happen it would have been first down instead of fourth down. What possible thought process is someone going through that leads you to decline that penalty?

Is it a spot foul if less than 15 yards?

OK. This game is ugly but we are still in this and I see no reason we can't win this thing. The only way to redeem these three hours is to find some way, any way to just win. Even a win in this totally meaningless game can be the seed that grows into a win against a good team later in the season.

It's still a late hit. I agree it is not dirty, but it's a penalty every time. It's been called that way for the past 30 years.
Nah it was a hard legal hit, but they threw the flag, so they made up for the bad call by giving Morrissey a personal foul for talking to a guy.

Pitt is just not that good on either side of the ball. This is merely a battle of 3 stars.
Yawn. Come on we have 200 yards on offense and BC has like 215? Just a pretty even game. Seems pretty entertaining to me. I mean if you just want to wait each year to watch Alabama vs Clemson, then just do it.

It’s a spot foul and we got the first down with the catch
