Pitt vs Vanderbilt Thread

Best stretch of the entire season. Solid D. Our size seems to be bothering them.

Femi needs to start dribble driving to the basket. The dribble drive and dump pass worked, again. Keep doing it.

It would be great if someone would moved toward the ball when Femi gets double teamed. Because it happens every single game.

Big John needs to pass the ball much faster. His decision making is far to slow.

Can Jeffress ever make a single 3? And why is Jeffress still making decisions on the perimeter. 3 wasted possessions by him, 2 on failed 3s, and another turnover by Jeffress on the perimeter. None of that would have happened if Jeffress was at the 4 and not on the perimeter.

Burton really likes taking low quality shots. He also doesn't like to pass fast enough.

Not a bad half, only 6 turnovers. Respectable defense. At least 2 transition giveaway layups on offense gift wrapped because of turnovers, 1 on a Femi double team where John didn't move, another by Burton.

Game is winnable, adjustments needed. Femi needs green light in second half. Ball movement and passing needs sped up. Make the opposing defense pay the price for doubles, and the easiest way is faster passing.

For all of the flaws of the staff, it seems like they have another guy in Santos who, like Femi, may have been underrated and can at least be a useful player at this level. Imagine what they could’ve done had they devoted their efforts to identifying guys like this rather than swinging for the fences or trying to patch every hole with a lower level transfer

That’s a great point!

Very true.

Live from the Pete. Along with 500? other fans. The students gone for the week. Even the band looks to have some old alumni covering.

Gueye is clueless.
Burton pretty good.
Santos is my favorite player on this team. If we had Femi and three Santos plus John (who's having a bad game) we'd be decent.

I like how we guard against the pick and roll. Ice some, hedge, some, switch others -- and switch back on mismatches.

The offense is just stagnant. Not enough shooters.

Stackhouse really working the refs.
