The Pitt women opened the game in snooze-mode as they made only 2 of their first 12 shots and trailed 12 to 7 after one Quarter. But Pitt then went on a 14-2 run and never looked back - adding a 19-0 run at the end the 3rd Quarter.

Good to see Stasha Carey more involved today as she took 11 shots, even though she only made 4 of them. She also had 10 rebounds.

Freshman Kalista Walters continues to convert shots at an impressive rate as she was 7 for 10, but she only had 3 boards. Yacine Diop matched Walter's 16 point total with 7 of 12 shooting.

Pitt continues to struggle with a high number of turnovers (19), although Rider had even more at 28...

Seven Pitt players played over 20 minutes -- and 4 of them are true freshman (which helps explain the turnover problems). The win brings Pitt to 7 and 4. Next up is American U. on Tuesday, then Duquesne on 12/30.

The Dukes upset a ranked St. John's team the other day and are looking very good. Going to be a tough "City Game" for the Panthers this year.

Go Pitt.

Thanks for the info and assessment. This is likely going to be an up and down season with such youth.
