Utah who?....Maybe some other posters know this school, but
I sure don't. It is a road win however, and that's a good thing.
I didn't see any of it on tv, but the box score did show some
positive areas. Apparently the D is getting better in that
they caused 23 TO's with their full court pressing. Marley
with 5 steals (she is very good at that). Our Bigs both had
double figures. The 42-29 differential in rebounds tells me
we handled them in the paint. OTOH, Our A/T0 ratio of 12/18
isn't out worst, but still remains a problem. Malcolm, only
12 minutes, and no pts is something I just don't understand.

These last three games show some overall improvement.
Question is, can they continue it now that ACC games are
here? These players seem to have some fight in them.

Used to be called Dixie State, which is an extremely weird name for a school in Utah. Apparently, Brigham Young referred to the area of the Southwestern Utah desert that its in as "Utah's Dixie" so the school was named Dixie Academy when it was founded. After the 2020 social justice protests, the school decided to change its name for 2 reasons: its geographically confusing and they didnt want to be associated with what some feel the word "Dixie" is associated with.

Good info, SMF.
Dixie State? LOL....That reminds me of an applicant I once interviewed
from Rio Grande College (now a university). Like Utah Tech, I had
never heard of it, and mistakenly assumed it was in Texas near
the famous river of the same name. Of course I was surprised that
the college was in fact located in Ohio. Maybe if I were a Pittsburgh
native or resident, I might have known better given Ohio's nearness
to Western Pa.

Never heard of Rio Grande College. In Ohio? Strange. Coincidentally, Texas-Pan American was renamed Texas-Rio Grande Valley when they merged it with Texas-Brownsville. They just renamed Texas A&M-Commerce as East Texas A&M, which sounds so generic.

Some of these schools need better names:

Oakland - named for the county its in. Rename it Rochester Hills University for the city its in. Of course, then there's a slight conflict with Rochester, NY but we'll deal with it

Rutgers - should be The University of New Jersey. The name Rutgers is associated with failure since they've been bad at sports for so long. Call it the University of New Jersey-Henry Rutgers Campus.

The full name of the school is actually Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Doubt they'll ever change their athletic branding. They're the oldest college football program in the country, and they just love to tout that history (since it's the only thing they have).

Ok, enough with the college names. LOL Any comments on the
thread I started (womens win over Utah Tech)?
