Second half and especially the last quarter, Pitt women
in a huge comeback to beat Clemson.
I felt they played much better in control today.
The offense was much more disciplined and same
with the defense.

Clemson had the size inside and had their way
for the first 3 quarters. Our girls simply
out scrapped and out fought them down low
in the last quarter. On the outside Harris played
a great game and brought us back with shooting
and running the team from her pg position.
Everett after a slow start, caught fire and hit
some incredibly long threes. Some of them were
three and four feet outside the 3 pt. line. If
I were Capel I'd have Horton ask Everett out on
a shooting date. Maybe she can teach him
something.

They looked great in that last quarter. This could
be the "turning the corner" these women need.
Impressive!

Everett, not Harris. Harris didn't make any threes all game. Everett was the one making them in the 4th.

They jumped out to a big lead against VT and then got blown out in the second half, especially in the 4th quarter. This was the mirror opposite.

Dang. I saw they were down 11 at half.

I thought the women played like crap for 80 percent of this game. Clemson made too many layups to count. And Pitt’s decision-making with the ball was awful.

But when they had it together, they really played well. When they came back and took the lead, then with 4 minutes left lost Harris to fouls and then lost the lead, I figured they would go back to playing out-of-control, but they didn’t. They made Clemson take tough shots and got the rebounds, which they hadn’t done earlier.

Impressive the way they finished out - and they hit their foul shots.

Nice work by Day (made a bunch of pull-up jumpers); Everett with the deep threes at timely moments; Cynthia with 11 rebounds; AB with tenacious play. Freshman King had a nice game - she can score, which is encouraging.

Remember, of the 12 Pitt available players, 10 of them are Sophomores and Freshmen.

Go Pitt.

My bad, I went back and edited the original post. I meant
Everett. Thanks! Harris actually fouled out and I thought
uh oh.... But the others came through. Those
threes by Everett were from downtown, out where you'd
almost not even guard the shooter. Tremendous range.

Brown is our best inside player which puts us at a
disadvantage because she's only 6'0" going against
much taller players. She's also very tough. How they
turned this game around says a lot about them.
Coaches also deserve credit.

I didn't think they played like "crap." I felt they were up against
a better and bigger team. I thought they were giving us their
typical play.

What they did in that last quarter amazed me. Harris as a pg
who led like a vet, and scored almost at will and Everett, who
hadn't done much started bombing away from WAY outside.
I don't care what level it is, anyone who can hit from that
distance can shoot, REALLY shoot. Just ask the men. LOL
Also great overall energy and hustle.

As you said, "Impressive the way they finished."

I listened to the radio stream on my phone, starting in the 4th quarter. Josh Rowntree called the game. He brought a lot of energy to his broadcast and expertly described the action. As a result, I got hooked into listening to the terrific comeback by the Panthers.

Well done!

The bigs played pretty well early on. The issue was the guards couldn't hit a 3 until the 4th quarter.

Harris carried them back even then Jarrett took over.

King is going to help them a bunch. Really nice player.

Good to see Cynthia playing more minutes

I wonder how much was her playing better and how much was Igbokwe getting into foul trouble again? Igbokwe played 14 minutes and picked up four fouls. Ezeja played more minutes in each of the 3rd and 4th quarters than she did the whole first half because of Igbokwe picking up two quick fouls in the 3rd quarter (her 2nd and 3rd overall), and then getting another one in the 4th.

Disappointed in Rita’s play today. She made a nice short jumper early, but passes and rebounds were clanking off her hands all day. Was hoping she would be able to step it up sooner, but she still is pretty inexperienced...

Looks like it’s going to take a while to get some scoring from Rita and Cynthia... Impressive that Cynthia had 7 offensive rebounds today in her total of 11.

Go Pitt.

Rita and Cynthia are who they are. They're both young and inexperienced.
Neither is all that talented, but if they rebound and defend, get the ball to
the scorers (and we have several)we can be ok on the offensive end.
Cynthia really fights down low, so she does make up for some of her
limitations. Rita is big enough, but she has a way to go as you pointed out.

We gotta remember Clemson is not Louisville, and were picked just ahead
of us pre season. Still, I like what I saw today and so should our players
and coaches.
