2004 and 2006 for me. I went with 2004. But losing to that hot at the right time Syracuse team was painful, given Jamie’s dominance over Boeheim.
06 was brutal. 07 was a nightmare to be at... couldn’t do anything right.
Has to be losing to Gerry McNamara and the worst Syracuse team of that decade for me, we had to claw back from a double digit deficit in that game that should never have existed in the first place.
That was not a particularly good Syracuse team but they were hot...that one hurt my young heart to the point of staring out the window the rest of the day lol
I was at the '07 one, also. Painful indeed. I think Gray broke the record for missed bunnies in that game. At least we got revenge in '08.
Might be why he’s under appreciated in our Pitt fantasy tourney.
2002. If Brandin doesn't hurt his knee, I think we win. I still remember his desperation 3 almost going in. And then it was I think Tarik Brown hit a 30 footer to pull ahead for UConn.
Sitting in the 400 section of the garden and almost fighting about 40 UConn fans during that game was a good memory
Yeah, I think that game and the Bradley game really cloud everyone's memories of Aaron. The guy was back to back first team All-Big East, a Wooden Award finalist, an NBA draft pick, and had an eight year NBA career! He was damned good. He just had two very bad games in March.
Yeah, maybe. But at the end of the season every coach in America would have rather had either Steven Adams or Mark Blount on their team rather than Gray. Because as we all know, coaches are idiots.
Yep, he's been coaching since he retired. Was on Detroit's staff for a few years and works a lot with USA Basketball.
And Krauser was fouled and should have had three foul shots to tie but the refs swallowed their whistles. Terrible no call.
I'd have to lean 2004 on this one myself. We led that whole game and it just slipped away from us at the end.
That said, unlike 2004, I felt that we were the better team in 2006. We had tons of chances in that one and just could never pull ahead. Syracuse was just hot at the right time.
