is an idiot, on 6:00 news said pirates are off to a 4 - 0 start but don't get your hopes up because they were 4 - 0 two years ago and still lost 83 games, he is some Pittsburgh sports guy and he is very arrogant, a legend in his own mind, he is very optimistic about the Bucs, sure he is

The Pittsburgh media universally crucified Pirate management for the Cole and McCutcheon trades and are now rooting for the Bucs to win no more than 75 games so they can justify themselves. There is a lot to criticize Nutting and company for as far as not spending enough money but these two trades were sound baseball moves. These people did the same thing during Pitt’s coaching search and even now some of them are probably hoping Capel fails.

Why are you so offended by honesty?
Honesty? sure they did that 2 years ago, that's not honesty, that's fact but, He is defeated already and has the Bucs losing the year, he is the glass half empty pessimist

Guessing you went to the game today. Looked like a nice start for Taillon. Whose 26yo AAAA guys do you think the Bucs will get for him next winter?

If I am betting on it I am betting they have a losing record this year. I do think last year was a little bit of everything that could go wrong went wrong and they could be better this year but the rotation to me is really not a winning rotation. I do think some guys like Polanco and Marte could rebound from poor season's. Bell looks like a keeper and some of the fill in guys like Freese and harrison are solid. But for them to compete for a championship its going to take all these guys having monster season's.

Good points. Personally, I generally don't criticize the Pirates organization for whom they trade; I criticize them for the many talented players whom they don't even try to bring-in.

You have seen in 4 games what the pirates major kryptonite will be....outside of Rivera that bullpen is so bad.

He is excellent on the radio.

You dont have to agree with the guy but he is really good and knows all sports....unlike others who know something about hockey but nothing about other sports .
Radio is a great place for him !!!

He is the best sports analyst in Pittsburgh, by far

Pomp is the best in town... that said, even though that happened last year, keep that shit to yourself and just enjoy the 4-0 start THIS year. I mean, have the wherewithal to put yourself in the players' shoes. They put the effort into 4 straight wins, just focus on that.

Right, pomp, leave it alone and quit predicting the bucs will fail

Even if they win and are in the race in August, people should not go to the games! Because even if they go 90-72 and get a wild card, that's a FAILURE of management, that's because they are CHEAP, because after winning 98 games in 2015, they should $PENT BIG at the window of opportunity and loaded with TALENT now and be challenging for 100 wins. I'd advocate staying away from games now, even if they do good to protest not spending when the opportunity was there to make a run.

And whether he's right or wrong, nobody is as boring sounding and monotone as Bob....

Water seeks its own level, and so will the Pirates. The opening day ticket sale tells me I am not alone in thinking this way.

Honest question here. When does anyone on a local TV sports channel analyze anything? They speak about 30 seconds on a topic and then change to other highlights. As for the call-in show after Steelers games, that shit is awful.

I think a better question is why do so many people allow their panties to get in a wad over anything a talking head says about a sports team.

You mean you would actually like to see them bring in some good players? They generally cost alot of money. Sorry Pirate fans, I just got my 50 million in revenue sharing from the league, i will be putting that money to work in a few of my local ski resorts. Could you please still attend the games tho, we will be having plenty of concerts and bobbleheads! Thanks!

Your Wonderful Owner,
Harry Nutsack

Pomp is right! Anyone who is drinking the kool-aid after 4 wins from this garbage outfit must be a Nutsack relative.

It is sheep like you that let Nutting get away with being the biggest cheapskate owner in the MLB. He doesn't even have to invest in the roster or care about winning the world series at all because there will always be fans like you who "see the glass half full" instead of reality like Pomp. The reality is the Pirates had a window to win the World Series, he was too cheap to invest in good players to get them over the hump, and now that window is closed.

Bingo...these two trades are sound by any barometer. Cutch is a great guy, but he is also a 260-270 hitter with a below average arm.
Cole is a pitcher in need a fastball that moves and a consistent second pitch. He is not an ace.
You want to get on Nutting for not going for the brass ring in the brief window...I'm on board. But these moves were good ones.
I was in town by chance yesterday and decided to go to the game myself. It was a lot of fun and this team could do some damage.
But like every other team in MLB, momentum lasts only as long as your next day starting pitcher.
BTW..Cutch is 1 for 16 to start the season.

Well he pitched like an ace his first outing...figures...

Houston actually knew what to do with him. The pirates take a cookie cutter approach to pitchers. Every guy has the same approach. Throw a ton of fastballs. Houston has him throw his best pitch, his slider, more than he ever did in the 'Burgh. I have no doubt that Cole will have the best season of his career now that he is playing for an organization that maximizes the talent they have. Same thing happened with Charlie Morton.

Right to all those things, the Pirates might only win 60 games this year, but don't write them off just because of what they did a few years ago
