It would be an awful day for the program. If he leaves, us as a fanbase would have played a part in running out the most successful coach in our basketball history.

And to those of you excited...we are not hiring Gregg Marshall. We are not making a splash hire.

If he decides to leave he's quitting on his team like I said in another post TCU isn't UCLA.. If he decides to leave then it's really best for the program because he obviously feels he can't win here . You don't need a coach who feels that way.

Kevin Keatts. Makes $325,000 per year and is one of the fastest rising coaches in college basketball. He's also a National champion at the high school level and college level, and a two time college conference coach of the year.

You think we can afford him? That's my replacement if Dixon bolts. Someone send the message to the admin.

There's never an end to the bashing around here, is there? Now if he leaves, he's quitting on his team. Sheesh.

I'm sending the administration a message now

The last 5 years have been the definition of mediocre, if we dont strive to be better than that, why even play?

What would you call. Is it a step up ? Is he going home ? I know he went to school there 28 yrs ago but does he have a home or vacation there? I think he stays by the way .

I'd say he probably understands that he set the bar too high even for himself. Most everyone here thinks getting to the tournament must be very easy because that's all he's ever done except for 2 years. The respect he gets nationally is is night and day from what he gets from the yinzers around here. Honestly, it makes me sick.

Why would it be any different at any school he'd go to . If TCU shells out 10 mil and then an additional 3/4 mil/ yr you don't think a lot isn't expected of him. What we paid all this to win 20 games and lose in the first round! There's no escaping the pressure or the criticism in the big leagues . 10 mil + salary = big leagues

And there is no guarantee he'd be successful here.

Yep. 100% correct.

He's been a champion everywhere he has gone. And obviously our new staff and athletic director is serious about winning again.

-Odds say he would take Pitt into being a Champion or at least compete to be one. Some big time school is going to get him at some point.

You can say that sort of thing about most coaches hired from smaller programs. They have excellent track records. It doesn't always work out, and honestly most times it doesn't work out.

I don't want Jamie to leave, it completely destabilizes the program. Look what happened with Wanny - we ran him out of town and then endured 5 years of mediocrity and instability. And I think Dixon is doing a better job now than Wanny was when he left.

To those who think we can get a great coach to replace him: you sure? Because if we let him go and then hire a mid-major coach with solid success we're going to look like clowns.

I have the upmost respect for Coach Dixon but I also believe Barnes and Gallagher will do the right thing for the program. I am not buying into this nirvana or hades mindset based on what happens here. Life will go on and I'm betting we are playing on this weekend a year from now.

How many coaches can you name are a former high school National Champion and College National Champion?

And how many coaches can you name that coached in Division 1 basketball for 2 years, and was the Conference Coach of the year both of those years.

Go for it....

If you think that Pitt's fanbase has the kind of power that would cause a coach to leave you really don't understand sports at all. It has been posted time and time again how Pitt alumni are one of the worst donating groups in all of the Power 5. We barely show up for Football games and now basketball games. Do you think Jamie is having his house egged or something? Or do you think he is foolish enough to turn on the Fan or read the Lair?

I would suspect the fanbase is least of the reasons why he would choose to leave.

I certainly wouldn't offer him more money to make him stay. More for assistants ( at least one different ) and recruiting but not for him.

Yep. 100% correct.
So Dixon is respected nationally?
We beat Cuse 3x's yet the pundits, forecasters, and the selection committee puts Cuse in the tourney around the same position as PITT??
That's not national respect! Its more of national respect for Bohiem and Cuse not Dixon and PITT.
Plus if he was respected nationally don't you think hed be leaving for a better job in a better conference?

I am curious at where this supposed respect you say is coming from? In the past few years I have seen a lot of derision thrown at the Pitt team nationally when it comes tournament time. Or do you think Seth Davis and Doug Gottlieb are being critical of the players while still revering Jamie Dixon.

Is it from other fans? Lets face it most fans only care about their team and only give passing interest to other teams. How many times have you seen a guy fired and said to yourself, that is surprising. The reason it is surprising is because we don't know the details of that teams situation.

I think Jamie is a damn fine coach. I wish to God he could have figured out a way to take success in the regular season and apply that half as well in the tournament. But its seems like year after year we look like a completely different team come March.

This would all be your fault. You started the thread hoping he leaves. Way to go. The blood is on your hands.

I am fine if he stays or leaves but Pitt better not give him another raise. Let him walk of it comes to it.

Serious question, has this respect been reflected in his recruiting the last 5 years or so? Any correlation there?

If he leaves, Pitt will have hit the lotto. TCU is a coaching graveyard and in 5 years he'll be doing color broadcasts for CBS. He;\'s been treated far better than he deserves.

If he approached me for a raise I'd say ok cowboy how about this.
We'll reopen your contract, give you a raise but it will be incentive based.
Lower base
Incentives for:
a targeted season record/finish in the ACC
making the NCAA tourney
seeding in the tourney
making the sweet sixteen
making the elite eight
etc.

Obsessed much? Seriously, the way you post on this board. It seems you are sooooooo obsessed with Dixon. To the point you would throw your body in front of his car so he couldn't leave. Its weird man

Maybe he's a fan? I guess that's "weird".
