Quote from National guys...

Who says Pitt doesn’t spend? We have the most expensive Defensive Coordinator in the country.
From the Internet: “Defensive coordinator Brent Venables, whose contract will be negotiated later, agreed to a five-year deal in July that pays him a base salary of $2 million with incentives that can earn up to $11.6 million over the life of the contract.”

Our DC makes more than Venables?

The fact that our AB runs to the sidelines between plays has been supported by many posters on this board since the beginning of last year.

He was referring to the fact that Narduzzi is de facto only a DC as apparently he will not intervene in the offensive play calling.

Pickett is an NFL prospect. Yellen played fairly well today. I don't think you can question Whipple's QB coaching, and he's repeatedly said this is how he coaches the QBs, gets a feel for them. Anyway it's one of the only things he does it looks like it works to me, but of course everyone's going to take shots now.

I’m definitely not givingNarduzzi a pass there since I don’t thinkVincent Davis is the answer

I have been taking shots since the beginning, I am not sure how Whipple's offense is ever gonna work
I remember expressing doubts on this board when he was first hired. He never impressed me at Miami.

As for Narduzzi.....he's basically saying that he takes no responsibility.....

Nobody that called plays in the early ‘80s should be our OC. It’s not what this program needs.

Sibley badly missed the block on the fake, didn't he? It was a horrible effort. He dove right past the guy when all he needed to do was make contact.
That was on special teams. It has nothing to do with his running or his gutsy first down effort on the first down catch. Vincent Davis looks like Pinocchio out there trying to block college linebackers and D line gimme a break!

It's one of those things that people defend now and then will tear to shred in three years when they want to defend the OC then.

"I mean, the last guy made our quarterbacks run to the sideline to get the freaking play. At least this guy doesn't do that!"

I’m, yeah, I know that was specials.

That people actually prioritize pass blocking over literally running the damned ball- on this site -
Is one of the god damned most maddening things that happen on this forum
It’s the coaches that prioritize that. That’s why guys like Izzy hardly play, and why Q Ollison was in and out of the starting lineup all the time.

the narduzzi comment can be taken one of two ways...

Is he basically agreeing with the question and stating that that is unacceptable? (If that is the case why isn't he telling whipple in the game to run sibley more?)

Or...

Is he shucking responsibility and basically saying "don't blame me....i am just the little ole ball coach. "

Either explanation reeks of incompetence

And he was the only one of our RBs to actually fall forward when getting tackled or break a few tackles.
And do we forget the tipped pass that he caught, made the first guy miss then fought through 2 more tacklers to get a first down. That was a pretty nice play. My eyes tell me he needs to play. V. Davis knows his blocking assignments but just gets bull rushed and ends up with same result as missing a block, and also can't break any tackles and get a 3rd and 1.

If he his such a horrible blocker (aside from that 1 play) then why does he lead our punt protection?

I like Sibley. I want him to get more carries. He badly missed that block. You can’t dispute that. Maybe he was in the dog house after that play. I don’t remember exactly when that fake occurred but, he did a terrible job on THAT play.
