Remember Ian Troost and how some have him grief for his stance?

It would be something if top black athletes collectively decided to attend only Historical Black College and Universities (HBCUs). Same as it was before the other schools decided to integrate their teams.

The TV money and corporate sponsors would then follow to the HBCUs.

Maybe then Power 5 schools will see how much that would cost them.

Yeah he would have prevented all of this
GTFO.

It's a shame that some people can't have civil conversations about real problems so people like Ian quietly protest. He was mocked and all we got here was a collection of idiots shouting about patriotism, not the substance of why racism is still a big problem in the country (GTFO, right?). Police in some places are kneeling now as a show of respect -- and humility -- to the BLM movement.

I'll give Ian credit for trying. Unfortunately, people like him are "wrong" for protesting peacefully and what we're seeing now is "wrong" because it's not peaceful.

You miss the point
His peaceful protest was silenced and attacked by fans , boosters, and the university
Now same athletic department is retweeting a Nike ad on the topic .

I give him credit for calling it out
I think most people knew this, but police going too far is not only against black people. It is against all people who aren’t in power. How many SWAT raids were failures, giving tickets for nonsense, etc.

This is a police power in general issue. Whether it happens to a black person, a white person or any other person; we should all be upset. You don’t get credit for siding with a particular race when it is every race that is being affected.

Also, you get even less credit for trying to claim credit for something to which credit should not be given.

I very much agree
As poor white trash growing up - plenty of police beating on relatives

It’s about power versus those without generally

but I’m good with focusing on one specific issue to reform firstb

The police have always been a problem for black people. It's only this century regular white folk have had reason to be nervous as well IMO.

Not entirely true. Most white people in the US have more connection to being slaves than to owning slaves. There is history outside of America and most Americans are directly affected by it.

Just STOP it.....you're obviously trolling.
Read some history. What do you think Slavic people dealt with?

Don’t be stupid. And certainly don’t be stupid enough to argue with history. Just because you don’t know it, doesn’t mean it isn’t true.

I don't debate trolls that are obviously trying to change the subject to push their own twisted agenda and narrative.

Also, you might want to read up on the Middle East slave culture. Amazing that the lives of those Indians and Asians aren’t being reported on.

How is the plight of slaves in Slavic or Middle East culture relevant to what is happening to people of color in this country? You could have at least brought up how immigrants are treated today in Europe but that probably won't help because it's the same or worse here. We even managed to go racist on the Japanese-Americans who were citizens of this country at one point. We've somehow vilified just about everyone who isn't white (and even a few races that were).

Read the post I responded to and then comment. It helps to understand context rather than to write so much without understanding.

But don’t be mistaken or racist; all races are affected by ridiculous police overreach, sanctioned violence and unconstitutional rules. This should not be a black thing, it should be an opportunity to control police powers and action, not a chance to segregate ourselves.

The problem is also those who make silly laws to control others. Never forget the lawyers who need people to defend. They push for more prosecutions and defend those who are prosecuted. It’s lucrative to play both sides. Freedom works for everyone the same, which is one reason I love it so much.

The NFL is totally shameless in all this. Black balling Kapernick for peacefully exercising his Constitutional freedom, and now calling out against runaway Police actions, the very thing he was protesting. They need to just STFU.

Agree
Only the nba has credibility as an organization
Though they balked when it came to China and Hong Kong

He wasn’t blackballed. He opted out of his contract and was the offered a back up position. Then he started to run owners down. That isn’t blackballed, that is setting oneself up as a martyr.

Many activist players still play.

I understand what you are saying and find it an interesting perspective. But what about black coaches do they follow. I get ridiculed for claiming MLB most racist event was Jackie Robinson. Nobody talks about the owners of the Negro Teams and how they lost everything. I never really cared that Kapernick kneed. I service so he had his right to kneel.

Meh... just another leftist cracker who has NO F'N IDEA what it is like to always being targeted by cops. I have just dealt with it over my life. Always been there... always will be. This is the same type of clown throwing bricks into black-owned store fronts. GTFO and go sip your latte. NOT WANTED.

But what about black coaches do they follow.
There's barely any black coaches to follow. There's maybe a little over a handful of P5 black head coaches. The coaching quantity isn't significant enough to make a difference.

Not sure how I mistook “this isn’t different than ancient Egypt”, but okay.

And if you think “freedom works for everyone the same”, you’re just trolling. It doesn’t. Not even close.

I'll just leave you to your #AllLivesMatter crusade.
All lives don’t matter?

But understand this, I don’t live my life through a series of campaigns. I live my life with consistent values and a desire for freedom for all. This doesn’t mean paying lip service to every cause that comes around so that otherS perceive me as virtuous. Your words are empty and I it is likely that your life for such causes is the same.

Freedom can work for everyone. However, one must demand freedom not accept something less or trade it for something even less.

Who is running these cities where this racism happens?

See who these mayors are and what their ideology is before you accept that somehow because of someone’s race they are inherently less and can never be more.

The life of George Floyd mattered.

Your ignorance and true colors continue to show, the more you post.

You're part of the problem in this country.
You offer nothing of substance. Who said his life didn’t matter? You see him as a black man. I see him as a human.

Your true colors are to see color in everything. You wear your racism blindly.

I've already said that you're not worth debating and I'm just here to continue exposing your ignorance.

Your comments speak for themselves....

Troll on ignororant one, troll on......

Well, no doubt you have held up your end by not debating.

But you certainly have fired off plenty of empty insults and baseless accusations. So yes, definitely wouldn’t qualify as debating.

He was an idiot then and still is. Police brutality by race has been studied time snd time again for decades by the feds, states and even a few local jurisdictions. All these studies show the same thing. Blacks interract with police at the same rate at which their race commits crimes and the rate at which those interractions turn violent is a actually less than that of whites. Its all another fake politically driven narrative created to spawn outrage and violence. As such, he and CK should be called out and face consequences.

That has no relation to the fact that the guy in Minnesota was, it appears to be the victim of a horrific injustice and too many others of all races are and have been as well. The issue is that when the media and other political activists take advantage of such tragedies for political opportunism and cause divisiveness, they are guilty of the same hate and bigotry that they claim to be against.

I get what you are saying. But his main Target Heather...she may or may not agree with him but she also has a job to do as AD. And like it or not a large part of what she does is about $ and making sure the Athletic Dept makes as much $ as possible. Call it corporate greed if you want as major college sports are a huge business but Heather has to answer to higher ups. When these ppl and boosters who make large donations and threaten to not give $ anymore what do you think Heather should do? Should she risk losing a position she fought so hard to get?

And yet
Pittathletics Twitter is now tweeting and retweeting approved corporate support

so are they lackies for Nike or being authentic ?
It’s worth questioning
