Uconn paying him 350K per the report I saw. I guess he wants to get out from under the offensive mind of Malzhan so people can see what he can do on his own? Thats about the only reason I can figure, unless he was being pushed out.

It's $350K base, but he has same incentives as Edsall, so if they win it'll be considerably more.

He had to get out from under Gus, but he's also a run-first guy in a pass-happy college football world, so Edsall and Lashlee are a good fit as Edsall is also ground and pound. And Lashlee is essentially HC in waiting if he stays in Storrs.

If Gus doesn't have a great year, he's likely out end of next season. If Gus keeps his fingerprints all over the offense, then you're probably gone when he goes.

OTOH, if Gus is hands off like the 2nd half of this past season and your offense does well and the boosters like you, maybe you're the new HC of a traditional SEC powerhouse.

Lashlee was only making $650K there, so the money likely isn't the big issue with anyone trying to decide between the two. But you gotta admit, Auburn has it all over Pitt as far as the football environment and culture.

I sincerely hope someone worth having didn't choose UConn over us. Rather more that we had no interest. Otherwise...yikes.
