Rodney Hoopie...

Lmao yes those reasons deterred Pitt but not ND, Texas, PSU, Michigan, and VT. Y’all are comically delusional.

ND was closer to getting him than I thought (Sandusky “wasn’t even close although it was a distant 3rd).. Thankfully, he stayed home (for now). Never know in this world of NIL.

Into his 2nd year, he is up to 16 balls for 154 yards and no TDs.

Pitt dodged an NIL mistake on this one.

They are trying ways to get him on the field to justify the NIL. He is the 5th receiver so maybe plays 10 snaps a game on offense. Did have 2 catches. Plays 5 or so snaps on defense.

His catch was nice, but he was so open I think any WPIAL receiver could have made that play. Would have liked to seen Rodney here, but not losing that much sleep over it.

By all accounts, Pitt paid Bass. And he's what - the 6th or 7th best LB on this team? I'm curious how that works when a guy like Kyle Louis, arguably our best defensive player, hears what he is getting paid (if he still is).

He barely plays for WVU and they have a talent level similar to ours. Why would you want Gallagher here? He is probably one of the highest paid role players in college football. A place like Pitt or WVU cannot afford to pay a kid like that to play 20 plays a game and contribute next to nothing.

Gallagher's number wasn't called that much and he certainly wasn't a difference-maker. Let him stay in hoopieland.

Too small and not skilled enough. He stopped growing so he went from a Top 25/50 recruit as a 9th grader to mid-major level. Do I think he could have been an 11th or 12th man in the ACC? Yes. But not sure he's even an A10 level starter, maybe lower A10. He'd be a nice Horizon League level player. As I said, just too short without being a good enough shooter or quick enough to be a major D1 starter.

My new castle fan family would disagree

He was overmatched in the EYBL (barely played off the bench). He looked surprisingly small and slow on the court.

At best, he's a bench player who can give a starter a few minutes of rest. Maybe he's a RMU basketball level player.... maybe.

Ran into his Dad a couple weeks back. Rodney Sr is a massive Capel fan. He couldn’t stop gushing over him. Not sure if the effusive praise was because he’s in love with Capel that much, or if it was a backhanded slap toward Narduzzi. He also loves Pitt, as Rodney Jr’s sister is on the Pitt Dance Team.

The whole recruitment strikes me as the bag was bigger at WVU and perhaps the fit was too. And that’s generally the case. I laugh at guys here who hold a grudge because a kid picks a different school.

Yeah - I’m not exactly a “wish him well” type .
I also don’t think he moves the needle , outside of perception for recruiting .

The father was just taking a backhanded slap at PN. Him and his sister of all people since she attends Pitt run their mouths about the situation. The OP of the thread was spot on. H2P!!!

Well good. Then Dad would fit in well here. And yes good riddance as we can’t afford to miss with the limited $$ we have.

?? You don't have a clue about the situation. Some wpial refs aren't too happy with Rod sr's behaviors. Major headache
He doesn’t sound too unlike a majority of other Dads. Rodney’s Dad and Donovan’s Dad are alike in that way.

Why? Not a PN fan??? I'm very critical of Duzz but happy we are 3-0 and glad our players are enjoying success. Always great to beat wvcc!!! H2P!!!

I’m an objective Duzz guy. Always have been. I never wanted to see him gone when this board was obnoxiously for it a few years ago. But I also see his faults and limitations. It’s really a shame that this program took a step back in 2022 when we should have taken a giant leap forward. But that was a result of one bad decision that Duzz made hiring Cig. Mistakes happen and he learned from it.

I’m not a wish them well guy either unless I know the kids personally. Once they go they are gone. I just don’t obsess over them and stick pins in a voodoo doll wishing them pain and misery.

But.....when the kids family continues to hold grudges and take shots back it's fair game. H2P!!!

Does that Greg Paulus rule still exist? I think it was if you graduate and use all of your eligibility at one school, the NCAA gives you 1 extra year in a different sport at another school. Gallagher doesn't have a shot at the NFL but could be a valuable basketball player for Robert Morris or someone like that.

Yeah this obsession with what a kid does once he makes his decision creepy. Its like some jilted lover.

I completely forgot about this kid once he committed to wvu. None of these kids are worth obsessing over once they're somewhere other than Pitt. Even when they're at Pitt, they're kids playing football. That's all. As long as the team wins.

I hope he does well. I don’t get the animosity or satisfaction in the kids pedestrian stats. He does appear to be part of a group of unremarkable receivers in an offense that really features run first.

Gallagher was a loud, obnoxious high school player who was used to people kissing his butt. His dad was loud and obnoxious and caused scenes at some of the high school games as well. He was a slightly better basketball player than football player. He is 3-star level talent who isn’t worth the hassle or money that is being paid to him. I said this when he was a Senior in high school and the same holds true today.

I was not impressed with Greene. He only threw for 16 TDs last year. Only 5 in 9 games the year before that. Gallagher might be a pretty decent WR, but with Greene throwing the ball, I don't think you will find out.

Its not that Gallagher needs a better QB to show what he can do. Doesn't matter if Mahomes is back there, he doesn't play much. He's their 5th or 6th WR.

What number receivers were Skyy Moore, Justin Watson, and Kadarius Toney for the Chiefs last year? One of them I imagine was the 5th receiver. They look like pretty decent WRs when Mahomes was throwing them the ball. Gallagher would, too.

Is Daejon Reynolds our 6th receiver? Based on what I've seen of Greene, he's not able to deliver that throw that went for the Reynolds TD on Saturday.

Gallagher is 5-10 175lbs and has average speed for a P5 WR. He has some quickness to him, so playing in the slot makes sense. But make no mistake he wouldn’t sniff the field at the NFL level and those guys you listed were far better players in college.

Gallagher doesn't play much. The reason I say it doesn't matter if Mahomes was the QB is because its not like Mahomes is going to have so much better of a connection with Gallagher that Gallagher overtakes 4 other WRs to get onto the field. Its not a difficult concept to understand.

I get it, but my point is that if WVU had a QB that can sling the ball around, the 5th or 6th receiver gets somewhat more of a showcase to show off what he can do. In WVU's offense with Greene throwing the ball, there is basically zero chance he can overtake any of the 4 other WRs (unless he distinguishes himself as a really good blocker). At Pitt, how much you want to bet WR#6 Reynolds gets a few more chances after what he did on Saturday? Maybe Reynolds could move up a spot or 2 in the rotation if he succeeds when given the opportunity. Yes, receiver #5 or #6 is still only getting on the field for limited snaps, but it nonetheless would be a better situation.
