Rutgers enjoying life in the B1G.

AAC team at best. Such an unnatural fit for them and Maryland to be in the Big10

This thread came up in my Yahoo news feed so I admit I was curious of what it would be like. I usual don't post or respond on other team's boards. Anyway...

I would prefer that we were good right now or playing Eastern rivals. However, with the departure of everyone else it was a fight for survival. Fortunately, our potential was seen by the Big 10 and we received a golden ticket. It may take a decade to build up the infrastructure, facilities and recruiting to compete but it will be worth it. Even if we can never compete in one of the hardest divisions in football, it will still be worth it in my view to be a survivor and not FCS worthy.

We suck now because of Schiano's departure and a lack of vision when it comes to our AD's. Not many teams would do well playing top 10 teams week after week at this point in the season for that matter. Good luck with the rest of your season. Love your coach, FWIW.

A big part of the issue at Rutger's is the wasteful spending. You won't receive a full payout from the B1G for at least (2?) more years. Until you fix that, it's going to be a long uphill climb.

It wasn't RU's potential that landed you in the B1G. It was the B1G not being able to land the schools they desired and the TV sets they could charge for around RU. That's it. They realize RU's potential is to the IU of the east.

Maryland destroyed Purdue today. Why is Purdue in the Big 10?

Purdue is one of the worse programs in the country. Yet people like to talk about how strong the Big 10 is but ignore Purdue, Indiana, Illinois who would have been bottom feeders in the old big east. BTW, I think Purdue is an interesting foreshadow of what might have happened here had Haywood stayed as coach. Hazell's resume is pretty similar.
