Science says "open schools"

Sure you can. We already did. There is no reason why public employees should not feel the same pain as private employees. Try as best as you can to accommodate them, but if they can't work in a productive way that also satisfies their health requirements..... sorry. Time for a lay off. It happens ever day in the private work face. Also, there will be a lot of young parents who will have to quit working if the schools close down. Someone has to be home with the young ones while they do their online schooling. These young parents are the ones who need money the most. I know well, because I was there myself a few years ago.
OK.

Science is always twisted, always has been and always will.

My faith in peer review is not that high. case in point -

Chiming in late, but thanks for posting this. Great to see people who side on the left, according to some I'm sure, that understand how to apply critical thinking. These are old style classical liberals.

Fox News attorneys option and yet people take him seriously.
He’s to be taken as seriously as Georgey, Wolf and Anderson. And for a guy who’s an opinion host, that’s not saying much for the other three who aren’t.

Back to the topic of opening schools. I think we all want our kids to get the best possible education in a safe environment. I am definitely in the camp that it is most critical for the younger ones.

What is the plan if students refuse to wear masks, or follow the other social distancing guidelines? What if teacher’s start getting sick or just use a bunch of their sick days, and school’s run out of substitutes? It is difficult to find enough substitutes in some school districts during good times, let alone now. It also takes a while for teachers to get clearances, so you can’t just throw anyone into a classroom.

I couldn’t imagine being a superintendent or principal right now, because the answer to each of your questions right now is “nobody knows”.

Every potential answer invokes more “what if” questions, and the questions are exponential now. It’s further enhanced by the fact that nobody knows what the situation will be come September. What will the various governments allow or prohibit? Will there be funding for the extra measures that need to be taken? It’s hard to plan when you don’t know what you’re planning for
