Secondary logo and possible uniform color change.

Here is a preliminary look at the new secondary Panther logo that AD Lyke wants to add.

Old news, but just confirmation that Lyke comes in and realizes right away something the previous administrations didn't for years and years.

Just reading the Uniform article on ESPN. Saw it there. Missed it earlier. My mistake, gang.

I think we can all agree that PITT needs to chose its school colors and stick with those colors across all sports and associated memorabilia, apparel, etc. The number of different colors over the past 15-20 years has been terrible.

Had a pretty obvious chance with the unveiling last year. Now, it seems, the uniform design will remain but with updated colors. I wouldn't mind seeing this current design with the colors of f the throwbacks. Could be the best of both worlds.

Honestly this obsession with uniform colors and style elements (other than script) is moronic. I don't get how so many guys are caught up in which shade of gold or what iteration of blue and this stripe or that stripe...too many apparently are fans of "Project Runway"

Yep, the new football unis where underwhelming. They made them worse and stayed with the same colors most people don't like. Pitt makes it look like rocket science, but it is really quite simple.

Lyke might actually get it right, but history is against her. Likely Nike will study it and come up with some BS about the new uniforms, colors, logos etc connecting to the blue-collar steel-town past of the city, when even Penn State and WVU fans and their grandmas know what Pitt should do. It's been what, 21 years now? Dear Lord.

And there it is. Even more predictable than those you complain about.

There's some obsession with the colors, but more importantly there is a call for consistency within the fanbase. Buying a jersey, shirts, etc. in certain colors which will never be used again is kind of pointless. Stick with a set of colors and move forward.

This tweet happened a while back, but has anyone noticed that she said not not happened when talking about the uniforms? A triple negative. By that, it sounds as if they're not going back to the old colors. Is anyone an English expert (or just smarter than me) and explain this?

She is not going to say the conversation (about switching back to "throwback" colors) has not happened.

I take that to mean that it has been discussed.

That's what I thought when I first read it too, but then I saw the three nots in one sentence. Thanks for the clarification.

It takes Nike 12 to 18 months to present an alt. logo and new colors? Really?

That sounds like a pretty good gig for someone at Nike headquarters.

"Hey Bill, great news, you get to chill for the next 17 months, then put together a couple of variations of Pitt Script Old Gold and Navy uniforms and come up with three variations of cat logos."

I only counted two. The only other "not" is where said that the colors right now are not (distinguishable).
The tweet I was referring to said, "I'm not going to say the coversation did not not happen." I found it odd with the back to back nots. Maybe I'm just making it more complicated than it is :)

Pecking order thing. Like with the NCAA Clearinghouse. When Duke needs a illiterate transfer to have his fabricated grades approved, it takes about 25 seconds, and he's approved with no restriction. For a Paris Ford, an entire summer and apparently still forbidden to actually play.

Nike has our design on the Chris Berman plan: back-back-back-back-backlogged.

The Duke jokes are funny, but it actually takes a long time to redesign a team or a school. I remember reading an article when the Browns changed their look that they had been working on it for nearly three years.

Look at Adidas and the NHL this year for example. They aren't even making alternate jerseys because of how much work it will take just to update the league with Adidas uniforms.

Haven't we established enough that this is what it should be, once and for all?
How hard is it to give to Nike and say, "This." ... ?

Sorry but it takes 18 months to come.up with what we already know.... If they even come to the same conclusion... and it's going to be hilarious when they develop yet another monstrosity.

You know or Paris Ford still hadn't finished his coursework in pre approved courses to get eligible until two weeks ago and still might not be eligible for competition because he had such bad grades vs. a guy who graduated in 3 years. Totally similar situations. Totally.

Current throwback look is fine. Yellow could be a little more Dijon mustard and a little less yellow mustard. There should be a blue helmet with gold script in the throwback shades. The blue helmet should be a matte helmet. There should be blue pants as well. NO WHITE PANTS! A perfect combo of old with just the right amount of new. Done and done.

Then, shrink the stadium a la a simple, clean tarp over the end zone bleachers and make the field more Pitt friendly via a Pitt script in each end zone - just as it looks at the UPMC practice fields for Pitt - and no logo at midfield. Clear it with Art Jr. Done and done.

Extend Narduzzi too. He's a good fit here. Done.

This is easy stuff. Do it, Heather!

I don't think this is that big of deal. Duke has added black to both football and basketball unis. UCLA has different colors for different sports. ASU has like 20 different. Oregon 100 different. UW now has black. We need to stop thinking of Penn State as a model, and do what is best for Pitt.

True. Following up on my earlier post, if it's a huge hassle, Pitt could literally do as I said exclusively for football and keep just about everything else the same. As you mentioned, this is done at other schools. UCLA being a prime, obvious example.
