Secondary logo and possible uniform color change.

True. Following up on my earlier post, if it's a huge hassle, Pitt could literally do as I said exclusively for football and keep just about everything else the same. As you mentioned, this is done at other schools. UCLA being a prime, obvious example.

Yeah. Same with Oregon. They create football and basketball unis, but leave most everything else the same.

We'll have to make due with these guys for now.
I personally like these the best out of all the royal/mustard looks. All you need to do is extend the helmet stripe, add shoulder stripes, and fix the pant stripe and we're good.

Actually now that I think of it, they also need to make the back name plate yellow like they used to in the 70/80's.

Why extend the helmets stripe? Why is this board always against anything unique whether it's the stripe or numbers or anything?

The Steelers built a look based on running out of helmet stickers so they only did one side ... it's unique

I can't understand why (given the players likely came up with the idea) anyone would not like Pitts helmet stripe as it stands now?

Don't be ****ing boring as dog vomit like penn state .... it's unimaginative

Ohio State Norte Dame Michigan three "tradition " schools who change things up each year

It's not 1977 .... teams just aren't "locked" into a look in the same way ... it's different... it's ok.

Honestly this obsession with uniform colors and style elements (other than script) is moronic. I don't get how so many guys are caught up in which shade of gold or what iteration of blue and this stripe or that stripe...too many apparently are fans of "Project Runway"
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Don't the throwback uniforms already have stripes on the pants?

indeed they do....

its a beautiful jersey as is......to me, adding a shoulder stripe and it begins to creep into a UCLA look..

we love this uniform because the color scheme is different than anyone else. We should keep it that way

And as a bonus to Nike I'll throw in the Away uniform design for free ... double bonus, they don't even need to design different pants.

Ba-da-boom ba-da-bing, we're done. Send off to Vietnam to be sewn.

Exactly. Problem is: You're assuming Pitt has competent people at the top of the university ( definitely not) and in the athletic department ( absolutely not ).

Don't expect much. It's Pitt remember.

The darker blue and the mustard gold in that Dorsett photo above look a lot better than the light blue and yellow. It just looks better - and it would look much better on things like polo shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, etc.

Now, once you start with the right base I am perfectly fine with the modernizing the look. However, the key is to start with the right colors that are unique and sustainable. Bright yellow and bright royal blue are not sustainable.

At this point, I don't care if they choose the Dorsett colors or the current throwback colors, just that they stop using the current colors that are extremely mediocre looking. Pick one of the two good ones, and then use the other for an alternative, and never wear to current colors again.

Problem solved.

But... you all know we are going to get some researched consultant solution again that nobody asked for.

I think that what happens is they combine a low-level Pitt assistant (hell, maybe even a student) together with probably an Intern at the supplier (whether it has been Nike or Adidas or whoever in the past), neither of whom have the slightest sense of history (or taste for that matter) and they just scribble on pads in the back of a bar. It's a design exercise. They produce something that looks (actually more accurately, SOUNDS like it is) cool on a pad or Microsoft Paint or whatever. And since neither school nor company is really giving two sh*ts, it just gets made.

I think the problem is that no designer wants to not design something new. That's their job and they don't do anything if the solution is already available. So then they come up with a justification for updated uniforms instead of going with the solution everyone else wants.

This may be the time someone finally understands, but we might also get something new and different just for the sake of it.

It's always entertaining though, which is how we need to view it without going crazy over the epic screwups over and over again. Think of it as a screwball comedy and it becomes much easier to accept. Buster Keaton's latest film starting Pitt admins!

You have a point. Nobody gets promoted for keeping the same thing.

I've also equated it in the past to a convenient distraction for the administration. Change the logo to something ugly, and few notice that you let the best OC in team history go without a whisper.

Pitts current uniforms all 3 are great .... they also just got them ....it's kind of insane to think they would make any changes again. Plus the blue helmets are incredible as another option

Just get a new Panther secondary logo and it's good

Actually I think it was just the use of Script that got Pitt #1.....

True enough though yet another poll had Pitt winning best throwback design but I don't think that was the ACC one. It was some college outlet website
