Serious question re Jurk…

This is a guy that obviously was a big name in HS football. But outside of a highlight or two, I’m not generally *watching* HS football.

This is a guy that went to BC and played a lot. I remember so many posters here sour about letting him get away. I remember some of you talking about how the timing was such that he was a potential replacement after Ben retires. I think we may have played BC once, but I wasn’t *watching* him at BC.

So while his numbers weren’t great, I kind of thought we were getting this really good talent. Maybe at least a Tom Savage or Nate Perterman type looking to get the attention of NFL teams.

My questions - what the hell was anyone watching? Was he always shot putting the ball? Could he ever throw?

Hate to compare him to Bostick since he is a great guy with a successful Pitt career in another way - but that’s what it reminds me of. A hyped recruit that just can’t play. It’s not just a guy playing poorly, it’s a guy with zero arm talent (any least right now).

I have said this before but I truly believe he has the yips like Steve Sax and Chuck Knoblauch. He was an above average QB at BC and certainly looked really good vs us in 2020. But right now he is the worst QB we've ever had and that's not hyperbole. You just dont go from being a decent ACC QB to D3 level overnight. And again, that isnt hyperbole. I believe you could sub in the W&J or CMU QB and there wouldn't be much drop-off. There is something wrong with him, either neuromuscularly or psychologically. Or maybe he is simply shaving points.

One more thing. I’m asking this not to get the 100th person to say how he sucks, or Duzz sucks, or bla bla bla, I’m interested in people that have watched him before and thought “wow - I’d love to have THAT guy!”

I guess part of me is holding out hope that we are going to hear that he had a sore shoulder or finger but “it’s feeling better” now.

SMF with a reasonable theory. That wouldn’t explain the zero velocity though, unless it’s literally Steve Blass syndrome.

I saw him a couple of times in HS. His arm way way overrated back then. The ball still fluttered so so-so accuracy and people were more intrigued by his size and mobility.

Early in his college career he could still throw a nice deep ball in terms of accuracy. Short and intermediate, eh. He wasn’t going to hit many of those due to accuracy issues.

I wasn’t a fan, but thought if he was still at his 2020 level he’d be fine. The guy has completely regressed and his arm and confidence looks shot. He’d struggle playing QB at Seton Hill right now.

It is like the high school nerd that wanted the cheerleader, she wouldn’t look at him, he went on to become a billion dollar surgeon, so now he went out and got her, even though she’s been worked over in gang bangs, twice divorced, all wrinkles and droopy boobs now and no guy would have here. He doesn’t care, he needs to avenge his high school butthurt.

Duz was jilted by Jurkovec back in the day. The guy sneered at him not once but twice. Duz was determined to get him.

For God’s sake he even went out and hired an awful OC to tempt the guy back. And (clearly) has promised he’ll never be benched.
