I think it’s silly. For all of Bayless’s faults, what Skip did was no big deal. But people have to be virtuous and Shannon is way over the top.
I'll go back to what I said earlier and just point out that timing was everything. It's a fair question to ask but the delivery sucked. Sharpe is speaking for most of the players and he does have credibility in that respect.
Bayless said nothing wrong! Just because a guy is in the hospital, doesn't mean it's off limits to talk about, the game, the season, the playoff picture, any of it. LIFE GOES ON. I've seen MORONS say they should cancel the season, to show proper respect! BS ! Like goes on, do they cancel all flights for a year if a plane crashes? Do they close a coal mine if guys die in a cave in? No.... LIFE GOES ON.
The only difference between this and stuff happening to average people on average jobs is that you watch this on TV and there's inflated hero worship for athletes, if it was a cop, having a heart attack while arresting a criminal nobody would care, in fact some would blame him.
You're the guy that wants to know where Grandma's jewelry is while they're loading her into the ambulance if you think it was okay to speculate how the outcome of the game was too important to cancel while someone was dying on the field.
So far a hyperbole, yes, they did shut down air travel for a while after 9/11 and they have closed some coal mines after big tragedies. But there isn't anyone legitimate saying the season should be cancelled. Just stop.
I think I’ve lost track of the purpose of this thread. Getting way back to the OP, all of you who can’t stand this guy, or Madden, or Howard Stern, etc etc are defeating your own purpose by constantly listening and railing against them.
In fact there’s probably some service his employer contracts for that is constantly searching social media for references to Bayless, and it’ll come across this site and thread, and it’ll be used as evidence of what an “influencer” he is. And he’ll get a new fatter contract from it.
Starve clowns like these into obsolescence. Don’t listen. Don’t watch. Don’t bring them up. But if you do, expect more of the same. Why would they change?

Guys have been carted off the field unconscious in an ambulance before and the game restarted before they reached the hospital, this is the first time ever I've seen a game cancelled, so what he talked about was totally appropriate. Why would anyone think the game would be cancelled, it never happened before.
Because everyone watching it in real time thought they had just watched a player die on the field. He was obviously speculating himself that the game was going to be canceled since the fallout was all about the timing of his Tweet.
I know context probably isn’t a strong suit for you. You sound like a man-toddler with all this ranting about life going on and how it was all better in your day.
If it was totally implausible, why would Skip speculate?

It was better, everyone didn't stop to cry over every adverse event. Now we celebrate people who quit or want to stay fat.
But it had never happened before. And I still think, 3-4 years ago even, they wouldn't have cancelled.
