SMU game thread

I guess I’m not reasonably intelligent. Maybe you could explain to me how Dabo botching a routine decision would cause someone to feel that Pat Narduzzi should then be excused from future criticisms of his own bad decisions, because even collectively they’re not as egregiously bad as Dabo’s gaffe was tonight? Does that make some kind of logical sense to anyone that I just can’t discern?

I guess the problem is that you really think that he seriously meant that Dabo's decision means that Narduzzi is immune from criticism rather than hyperbole to point out how completely stupid the decision was.

Like I said, I apologize for assuming that you were smarter.

The real kick in the teeth is the fact that SMU in their first year in the ACC is probably the second best team in the conference right now.

They have some pretty rich donors that will bankroll the team going forward. They just needed access to a power conference.

Well I certainly appreciate your heartfelt apology. You’re nothing if not a gentleman.

Well if we take the context of my original response that you’ve latched onto like a starving dog with a bone, it was a reply to a guy who said he won’t criticize any of Narduzzi’s dumb decisions anymore, because, her whiz, that crazy Dabo just made a really dumb one. As though there is some kind of equivalency between the capabilities of the two coaches. Which there isn’t. One has achieved elite head coach status, the other is, well, Narduzzi.

So please, continue hammering home your myopic criticism of my comment while ignoring the context within which it was made. . It’s a really worthwhile use of your time and energy, and a really endearing quality.
The not criticizing Narduzzi was supposed be a joke.

Even after they’ve been around for years one can still learn something watching how coaches handle in game decisions. What this showed me was that even when making a bonehead decision none of the Clemson assistants were willing to correct Dabo even when it’s obvious to every else watching the game. Even later when they scored with more than 2 minutes left and 2 timeouts he did the same thing again. I guarantee that by then he knew that he screwed it up the first time, yet he still kicked another XP. That shows me he is incredibly stubborn and didn’t want to admit he did something stupid the first time. I had been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on his refusing to utilize the transfer portal, but what he did tonight showed me it’s his being stubborn about his way being the right way that he doesn’t use it even though it is undeniably affecting the ability of his program to compete at the highest level as it did a few years ago.

I’m of course well aware what he’s accomplished in the past, his resume stacks up against anybody’s. I’m also comfortable saying his Clemson team will never be a serious threat to win a NC again unless he admits he has to change his ways and start doing things differently.

At least we’ll have an active board this week with all the miserable fans, trolls and fake accounts jumping on the opportunity they’ve been waiting for for 9 weeks.
Can’t wait to see the counter-punch of relentless positivity on the board this week.

Well, they had better lines on both sides and better athletes where it mattered. They would beat us 10 out of 10 times no matter where the game was played.

The offense has been bad for three consecutive games. Third down play calling is very, eh, and the results show that. Has anyone asked Duzz why Carter never gets any carries? What has happened to Hammond? How about using all three RBs? Maybe the tight ends, too. Perhaps we can stop with the stories about Bell going for a new job after this season.

SMU was faster. We could play better and get more breaks and beat them but they are just more athletic.

Holstein will start but don't be afraid of using Nate if needed.

If we take care of business against Virginia and BC, Pitt will have three chances to get to that rare 10 win mark (including a bowl.) Anyone would have signed up for that after last year.

But conference title dreams just got into distant, unlikely scenario mode.

Holstein...yikes.
Or was it the rookie OC that everyone was sending away already because they were to rich to stay at little old Pittsburgh ?

Well 460 yards in offense but gave up 469

Too many gaffes, gave them 21 points on tos and the weird fake punt. Eli just is shaky as heck now, needs to regroup him. He cant throw a screen pass, did that weird lateral... just all outta whack now.

Need to get back to basics and slow things down for him. Need to run again, and get the run game going.

Dime Time: Starring Nate Yarnell. Let's do it!
Hate to state the obvious, but he was going against the 2s and 3s in soft cover garbage time. Not a true measure. The time to put him in was after the first 3 and out of the second half, at the latest. Eli was struggling mightily all game and needed to get out of the game for a while for his own mental health.

Lashley owns Narduzzi. He didn't even have to reach too bar into the bag tonight. He threw in that slipping a guy out of the backfield play he nailed us with multiple times in 2020 just for good measure tonight.

Im frustrated with Holsteins past 3 games but to
Toss him in a dumpster is stupid. Hes a 19
Year old freshmen and there will
Be ups and downs. He’s 7-1 as a freshmen. Thinks about that.

A loss hurts.
Take it in strides.
KMA is usually super cool during game threads. I respect that dude.
