That's a mirage. There is no magical season that is going to result in long-term program success. It used to be that way, because success sparked better recruiting, and boosters were a little more willing to give a few thousand under the table to maintain it. It doesn't work that way anymore. TCU & Cincy can make the playoffs, then go right back to being TCU and Cincinnati.

I got that reminder first hand in Baltimore 2 weeks ago and watching a hoops game between Virginia & Villanova. Two basically useless afterthoughts in the world of today's college basketball.
