brandin knight qualified to be an AD... really???????
Sure. But clearly 3rd on the list. But he is one spot ahead of Roger Kingdom, who'd be great at rejuvinating our Olympic sports programs. I've personally seen him run the track at old Pitt Stadium, so I know he has what it takes.

Lets give these two a try Gallagher already swung and missed on his first pick how could we go wrong! CEO's of organiztions don't get three strikes!

Hire a good under the radar AD from a lower level D1 school. Use the extra $ on football and basketball coaches. The only thing that will improve attendance and bring in more $ is winning in football and basketball.

This guy...

He has AD experience...

"Major fundraising gifts to UT Martin athletics increased by 300% during Freire's tenure, while corporate sponsorships jumped 200%. He also spearheaded an ambitious renovation plan for UT Martin's football home, Hardy Graham Stadium, with a four-story, 20,000-square foot building that includes locker rooms, a club level, media facilities and classrooms."

PSN is reporting Barnes likely to leave for Oregon State.
I'm not sure why everyone keeps limiting their thinking to ex-athletes or current AD's. The AD job is fundamentally about sports marketing. Need someone who understands merchandising, digital rights, social media, hiring, and most importantly, fund raising. I'd like to see Pitt think really outside the box... look at candidates from senior level marketing positions at companies like Nike or Addidas or Under Armor. Of course, Pitt won't go this route. They'll hire yet another overpaid seach firm who will compile the list of candidates from the ranks of existing AD's or assistant AD's. Half the posters on this board could do as good a job as these search firms. As for Barnes, I do NOT wish him well. He's an A-hole who had one major task last year, hire a new B-ball coach and he screwed the pooch. Good riddance.

A Domer. His father is the AD at Duke. Interesting.

I read it. Now, do tell why he should be considered. I'm not being in any way hostile either, I'm just curious what about him appeals to you.

I don't disagree with you on the concept, but description applied to Barnes.

The goose. His NJ ties may bring a sudden increase of money donations to Pitt ;)
