Solomon Ruddell

To be fair, his tiny numbers were as a freshman. But yeah, would be a reach even for Kevin Stallings.

Corrected post:

Oops--appears he is a transfer candidate--not a grad transfer. Has already red shirted one year. Probably would have 2-3 years after sitting for one.

But are the staff actually recruiting this guy? Or, did the poster starting this thread discover him in the transfer portal, or online?

As noted the guy had pretty anemic stats as a Redshirt frosh. Also, his HS stats were only 8 pts and 5 rebs per game. At his height that seems awful for HS.

He’s not even really “from” Pennsylvania - he spent a few years at a boarding school here after transferring from his local California high school.

In any case, a player isn’t worthy of a center scholarship just because he’s got a “7” in the height column. For a sit-out transfer, this completely wouldn’t be worth it - which is why I suspect we’ve seen zero indication that the staff is in pursuit here.

I remember St John's having a center around 2004 who was massive, maybe 7'4"? But he was absolutely useless. Not saying this guy is as bad but I'll take 6'10" and athletic over 7'+ and slow any day.

Yeah, maybe I got a little excited when I saw the height and weight, but then I saw his numbers. I'm just looking at guys incase Bilau goes elsewhere, because Coulibaly is an unknown and Hamilton should give you 15-20 minutes at PF/C. Maybe the options out there are just not good enough unless we can get a relcass of some sort

Last year Brown Average 19.0 minutes and Chukwuka 17.8. Also, I tend to have to believe that Hamilton is likely physically and skill wise to prove to be a better talent than Chukwuka was. See link:

So, IMHO, Hamilton could easily play Chukwuka's nearly 18 minutes or more if necessary.

I also have the impression (without any concrete evidence, of course) that Coulibaly is really more suited for playing as a 4 (vs a 5) due to having more of a face the basket game while lacking sufficient hops to compensate for being slightly "height challenged" for being an ACC 5. No doubt, however, he would be capable of playing whatever minutes at the 5 remain once Brown and Hamilton get their minutes. I suspect (again based on flimsy evidence) that Coulibaly will get as many or more minutes of playing time at the 4 spot than he will playing backup minutes at the 5. Maybe Italy will shed further light on how things will work out.

If Capel stopped recruiting Nigel John, I can assure you he ain't the slightest bit interested in this stiff.

Are we now just literally looking for warm bodies?

Then only thing this stiff has to contribute is a pulse.

I don't think Capel has shown a micro-ounce of interest. The guy is just a player a fan who posts here noticed in the transfer portal, or elsewhere.

Yes, and for clarification I’m referring to us fans, not our program and coaches, as “we”, in my original response. I’m hoping “we” aren’t so desperate that a player like this is even worth mention.
