1) Noah Hiles is a slimy little turd. If Pitt can't outright ban him from certain facilities, Pat Narduzzi needs to hit him with "next question" every time he opens his little pie hole.
2) In true grimy media fashion, they don't care if a quote was accurate; but the front page of ESPN (which this has made) will gladly tell you about the players' reactions in an effort to stir the shit. Media in this country is a huge problem. They creative the narrative. I won't shed a tear when they're eventually turned on and given the overthrown tyrant treatment. They're nothing but bullies and cancers disguised as white knights. Even the average local news broadcast makes me cringe, and it's shocking that so many people aren't able to see through that.
3) I personally didn't think this Narduzzi quote was that bad. Just jumbling multiple thoughts like he always does. But he truly is an idiot who can't help himself. He's talked smack on both offensive coordinators who have had success here. Deion Sanders, who already has a better program than Pitt his first year on the job. James Franklin, who is 3-1 against Pitt and consistently destroys them on and off the field. The entire BIG, which is 6-1 against Pitt. Kedon Slovis, who sucks but not nearly as bad as the guys you have now. I mean, when does it end? You're a clown. Every opposing fan base can't stand this dude, and half of ours doesn't like him. When you act like this all the time, people are going to pile on when you fail.
4) If this leads to mass transfers and decommits, we're done. I'm not talking about Jason Collier transferring... see ya; go play for Geneva. But, contrary to belief, there is some talent on this team. It will probably take a few years to build back up, but there is some combination of talent and hope. Guys like Okunlola, Neal, Camon, Whittington, Brewu, Edwards, Lovelace, Bass, Louis, Johnson, Baer, Williams, Goff, Holmes, Willis, Lindsey, Anderson, etc. Gonna have to wait until they're like 2/3/4 years into the program, but that's the formula. But if you start losing them, forget about it.
5) Borbely, Cignetti, and Powell... thank you for your time at Pitt.
6) Veilleux doesn't have that it factor at all. He can compete for the starting position next season, but I'm sure as hell not handing him the keys. This is his third year in college football, not his first. He has shown no moxie, no ability to read a difference or understand situational football, and poor accuracy at times.
7) It's hard to be this bad in college football. There are so many bad teams that are 5-2 or 5-3 or 4-4. Please don't tell me we've played a difficult schedule, because we haven't. Doesn't mean every single player on the field sucks, but it goes to show you these are fickle dudes who will play up or down to the overall vibe.
But I remember how we used to see videos of how hard guys like Twyman and Kancey were working. Saw one with Hallett, too. I'm talking about stuff above and beyond mandatory practice. I wonder if we have any of those guys on our team now.
8) No matter what happens, there's a good chance we're very bad next season. That d-line is getting pushed back now; I can't imagine what will happen when Danielson, Green, Bentley, and possibly Jules move on. Which isn't to say they're great players at all... but the guys behind them don't seem to be carving into their playing time much. As I've said, I think we have some young talent there, but I don't think it'll be ready to go as soon as next year. Then you look at cornerback... *gulp*.
