Soufie, I win.....

The funny thing is that Pitt has been selling script stuff both on line and at the store in the Petersen Center for several years now. Heck, it was even in those butt-ugly colors that some of the script fanatics have a wet dream over. So if there was some huge, pent up demand for the stuff why didn't the stuff that they already have just fly off the shelves?

Pitt will get the standard bump that pretty much everyone gets when they change their logo. It is, after all, the main reason why teams change their logos. And then a year or two from now we will be pretty much right back to where we would be without the logo change. Which is exactly why some teams make changes to their logos and color schemes so often. Change sells.
I said it would be a one or two year bump.

But it will be a significant one or two year bump.

And the little script stuff that was on the shelves at Heinz this season sold like hotcakes.

But why didn't the script stuff on sale at the Pete for the last couple years or the script stuff on sale on line sell like hotcakes? If there is such a huge demand for the stuff, it was available. Why didn't people take advantage of it?

Because the team wasn't wearing it, frankly.

“A lot of times, that logo change is polarizing,” he said. “Half the people like it, half don’t. There’s a dogfight. I have not met anybody that does not like this Pitt script. It’s just phenomenal.” - Scott Barnes

All your claims, accusations and BS over the years have now been shoved straight where they belong!

Most entertaining thread I've seen in a while. The Lair at its best and worst, all in one thread.

Some very funny stuff in here. While I disagree with Souf about things many and various, some of his responses in this thread have induced some hearty chuckles.

Keep it going fellas, I'm going to go get a cup of coffee and return to wasting some more of my morning on the Lair. Hard to do any work with a bad hangover anyway.

Nordenberg-Pedserson Era improved Pitt Athletics from losing status that could not afford full 85 Scholarships to Mediocre Winning with a few 8, 9, and one 10 Win season. Basketball becoming a Top 30-35 Program with a few stints in Top 25 and Top 10! And New Facilities with an invite to join the ACC! Pitt went from a Top 70 Football Program to a Top 45-50!

The Gallagher-Barnes Era has a vision to improve the status of Pitt College Football towards becoming a Top 25 Program built on the foundation left by Nordenberg-Pederson Era that could go no higher due their poor decisions making in Coaches, Branding, and lack of confidence in them by the Boosters and Fan base, and to meet the new challenge of the ACC!

Pederson was successful in his first 8 years tenure that led to his hiring at Nebraska where he failed and he brought the same failures to Pitt in his second at Nebraska and could not advance Pitt any further!

No problem with thanking the past and moving on to the future with embracing the challenges of today!

Pitt is better off without Pederson and Pederson is free to find other employment with those that want him!

Thanks for a job done!

Doesn't it make sense that the script will sell big when the players and coaches are wearing it?
Right now fans are in a holding pattern not wanting to buy block stuff in anticipation of script being rolled out in new colors on uniforms. I think!
At the NC and Miami game tailgate that we go to it looked like have the fans had block and half had script.
Get it on the players and coaches and it will sell!

Going back to the Pitt Script was a No Brainer just like going back from Pittsburgh to Pitt, only Pederson was too stubborn to do it.

Why Steve did not learn from his mistakes in Branding and change hos attitude and realizing he amde misatkes not just at Pitt but at his own Alma Mater, is beyond me.

Steve could have been embraced by Pitt Fans and Alumni had he change upon his return to Pitt. So be it, he is gone, and Pitt is better for it!

Oh by the way, the Denver Consultant Report for ACC Expansion that I read clearly outlined the following:

1. The ACC went after Miami because of its Top Ten Status and NCS and First round Draft Picks wanting the ACC to get TWO BCS BOWL BIDS and they had terrible Facilities and Basketball!

2. Syracuse was chosen because it was Founding member of Big East Basketball Conference and that would hurt the Big East. Pitt was not chosen at that time even with new Facilities and improving Basketball???

3. BC had worse facilities than Pitt and was delayed until 2005 even when Pitt had better basketball and New Facilities?

Virginia Tech was not included but was added later only because the UVA would not vote for Expansion without VT replacing Syracuse. Nothing to do with facilities and ceratinly nothing to do with Basketball since they had just joined Basketball and still owed money to BEC that they paid after joining the ACC!

The Intent of ACC Expansion was to destroy and remove the Big East BCS Bowl Bid and as a Power Conference and they counted the BCS Wins as ACC Wins when looking at BCS Bowl Renewal.

Meanwhile the Big East Expansion of ULou, UCincy, Depaul, Marquette, and USF not only upset tha ACC Expansion but exceeded ACC's BCS Ratings as ULou and WVU actually were Top 10 Teams and the ACc struggled to win BCS Bowls and barely had a Top 15 Team?

ACC with 9 Schools and Big-12 with 12 Schools actually trailed the Big East 8 Schools in NFL Draft Picks and was another reason what they chose Miami for expansion and they did pass the Big East afterwards.

Big East Basketball actually out produced the ACC after Expansions.

Again, Pitt was not chosen with New Facilities and Top Ten Winning in Basketball in 2005.

The change and more expansion came when Conferences went to 12 and 14 Teams while the Big-12 dropped to 10 Teams and Cable TV Markets Subscribers became more important and after the ACC failed to end Big East BCS Bowl Bids? Thsi only happen in the second wave of expansion to end Big East Football and Basketball and the AAC was created afterwards.

It was the Big East that made mistakes by trying to expand to Villanova Football as the Big East Catholic Schools created an impossible situation for Big East Football Schools, and New York and Pennsylvania were Big Cable Subscriber States.

Wow Souf...you actually didn't spend all weekend trying to debate UP89 on the meaning of the word 'significant.' I'm impressed. I expected less of someone who's spent a quarter of his life trolling. Afterall, trying to make people feel stupid on the internet is your competitive outlet.
