The DBs should be better than last year with a year of growing and learning. Whitehead is the next star from the WPIAL and should have a great year.

Here are my starters for the SG:

CB - Mitchell

S - Whitehead

46 Rimoni Dorsey 6-0/190 DB FR Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School

DBs were heavily recruited in the “16 class as DLs were as well. Hamlin, Coleman, Garner, Milller and Campbell will be here for Summer Camp. Hamlin may start at CB with Mitchell taking over the S for Webb. It will be nice to have options in June!
One of the by products of this group will be Special Teams! We will be very good on STs!

Come summer camp, only one to be penciled in the Secondary would be Whitehead, the other 3 will be pushed by the Freshmen coming in

Regardless of who will be in the deep 2 at the two CB spots, Pitt will be able to do something that Narduzzi really wants to be able to do and was not able to do last year. That is, to rotate his CBs, so that there are always fresh legs on the field, and fresh legs in the 4th quarter.

Last year, L Pitts had games where he got beaten and the coaches obviously had no faith in anyone else, so Pitts stayed in the game, usually forced to play the whole game. By mid-season, we will have 4-5 guys who can play at a high level who will be seeing the field.

I would think that the freshman redshirted last year should start to have an impact. Henderson, Stocker and Jackson.

Hamlin starts from Day 1. I think Coleman will get significant time too as Freshmen. I liked the Stocker kid potential out of HS, the others not so sure about. There will definitely be some competition, and talent finally.... the cream will rise to the top. I love how the staff is putting together the secondary unit and DL.

Yeah, Hamlin has to see the field. Looking at what Pitt has in the secondary right now it's not good and there's little good depth if someone got hurt. Hamlin needs early PT because it's likely the coaches promised him that throughout the recruiting process, and it's helpful in the recruiting race to show top prospects that they can play from day one if they have the chops.

Pitt just isn't in a position where they can keep a guy like him off the field for a year - and it makes no sense to use him sparingly if you are going to burn a year of his eligibility. Goes without saying in today's college football that if a guy is good enough he's gone as soon as he can get the paycheck. When you recruit elite talent you might as well get all you can from them until that time.
