I don't see the NFL delaying the draft and they definitely aren't going to want to exclude rookies from the offseason program. Giving rookies 60-90 days off? No way do they not get a rookie into the program until the end of September. Any player that has a chance at the NFL is not playing college football using your timeline.

My gut feeling is that if things really are better after the first of the year, get rolling in February. Might have a few cold weather games, but that can happen in early December and in the northern bowl games anyway. That pushes everything up a month which feels more feasible.

I hate to say it, but if they play I see it going the way of these other sports. In other words, the delay doesn’t really allow them to play in a post COVID world, but rather one with the precautions worked out

I do think players will opt out but I also think they would delay the draft. The NFL NEEDS college football. Yes, they may not want to give rookies that much time off.

I can't imagine a spring season in any way. You can't expect fans in Madison sitting in 5 degree temperatures then you have traveling issues for the visiting teams. The NFL is not moving its draft for anything.

Is there a significant difference between playing in Madison in late November versus playing there in February? If they played in the fall or the spring, there still might not be fans present anyway.

If they are delaying until after Jan 1 with hopes of driving fan attendance vs playing now with no fans, I think they will be disappointed.

I'd say that's pretty significant, but ymmv.
