Well yes, that was the height of the Boomers, and PA still wasn't hemorrhaging population and aging. Also, you didn't have soccer, hockey, lacrosse, and other sports.

There are a million more Pennsylvanians in 2022 compared to 1970, surprisingly.

I think some of this is due to more sporting options and kids not wanting to sit the bench on a 100 person HS football roster. So 30 or 40 come out instead of 100

And I would also be curious to know what the numbers look like for the western part of the state vs eastern part. I am certain there are now less high school kids in the western part (where football is and always was more popular).
