The Greatest Pitt Football Game You Attended

When I was 7 my grandfather and me walked to the train station downtown and walked behind the Cadets who marched to Oakland. We lost that game but I was hooked ever since.

For me Pitt WVU 1970 I was eight and I still remember the Pitt comeback and how happy my father was.
That would be mine too. Great memories of that game. Joel Klimek from Seanor, Pa catching a 2 point conversion. Bill Pilconis wide open for the win. First time I ever stood on artificial turf.

Last game at Pitt stadium against the Domers and the 2016 win against the Nits are up there too.

Cincinnati would have topped them all but.....Marty Gilyard happened.

EDIT: I can't leave out the 2000 game against the Nits at 3 rivers. I'll never forget the rising crescendo of noise as Rutherford reversed field and it became apparent he was going to score. I briefly lost my freaking mind and was whipping both middle fingers at the Nit faithful. I guess that wasn't nice in retrospect. Well, maybe it was.

12-0, my senior year. That whole year was pretty awesome at home aside from the egg we laid against NC.

I would have been happy had 3 Rivers become our permanent home after Pitt Stadium. Awesome place to watch a football game.

1976 Pitt-PSU, on the way to the national championship and the first time Pitt ever beat Paterno.

1975 Pitt-Notre Dame, Dorsett ran for 303 yards, still the record for an opposing running back against the Domers.

Can't remember the year, but during the Wannstedt era - Pitt-Notre Dame, where Pitt won at ND in four overtimes.

I am not old enough for almost all of those games. Paterno's last game at Three Rivers, The PITT vs V Tech Walt Harris years and the last time we beat PSU at Heinz

The 2016 Clemson game for several reasons that all add up to the best ever.

Pitt over Penn State in 1976 as we punched our ticket to the sugar bowl and destiny.

Pitt Notre Dame 1999 final home game at Pitt Stadium.

and the winner is.........Pitt Clemson 2106. There were scoring swings and big plays from both teams too numerous to count. There was the final 6 minutes of that game that would be hard to script even by Grantland Rice on LSD. There was also an egotistical Clemson coach who was just begging to lose. There was a poignant moment by the Doozer who told his kicker “I choose you”. In the end there was stunned disbelief by the home crowd and 2000 Pitt fans exiting for their cars hoping that it wasn’t just a dream.

and it wasn’t and myself and my family were there.

I attended all 3! Good list...

I even enjoyed the car ride up and back from Atlanta. Awesome November day for weather with a blue sky early on during the game.

I did the 8 hours Friday evening after work and the 8 hours sunday morning back to PA. Great time

82' Sugar Bowl. After putting up with Dawg crap for all the days leading up to the game it was a great feeling to walk up and down Bourbon Street with all the Pitt fans screaming Let's Go Pitt at the Georgia fans. Loudest I've ever heard it, including when the Pete was rocking.

Pitt - Penn State 1976. Doesn't get better than that.

That's exactly what I'd say, too. That game was so much fun, especially the second half. Tony D. lining up as a fullback and throwing a curve at PoopPants, may he burn in hell.

There were a lot of great games I attended, mostly at old Pitt Stadium, but that was the at the top by a mile.
