I honestly didn't know what to expect but the horrible play calling along with nothing from Peterman or the wide receivers against a division I-aa school? Wow this is embarrassing and does not bode well at all moving forward.

SMH.

Why is he a loser for speaking his opinion?
Because he's probably a kool-aid drinker who wouldn't dare criticize anything about the team. Don't worry, there's a few of these guys on this board just like him. Not many, but a few.

I just think they are keeping everything basic. Just relax until you see a few games.
Basic? Either Peterman can't find a wide receiver down the field or no one can gain any separation or both. Peterman was struggling at the end of last season and it looks like it is continuing a year later.

-There has been at least 4 drops by WR's

-Our Center has snapped the ball over Peterman's head twice

-Peterman has been throwing the ball to no one, and he gave the other team 7 points with a fumble

-How you blame the coordinator on the above is beyond me

The play calling sucks. 3 straight runs on Villanova's 35 yard line or so? 3rd and 7 and run? Give me a break, the passing game is non-existent and there is equal blame to go around.

His passing to running ratio is not what it should be. Add in no screens, end arounds, using primarily only one running back, no quick throws.

I obviously placed too much weight on these pundits predicting success for Pitt this year. Man alive the offense is pathetic, this is going to be a long year. How can Peterman be your best and ONLY experienced qb on the roster?

But no doubt Petetman had not been good at all. But Canada's pass plays take way too much time to develop. Not playing to his players strengths and weaknesses.

I am not criticizing him. It just looks like Pitt is approaching this like a preseason game and not being very imaginative with play calling or tempo. Let's all hold judgment until next week.

As for Blewitt, is he really the best we got? Does this guy aim to get better and practice the whole offseason? Seriously I don't get it.

Its damning with faint praise, but we have seen worse at QB.

Peterman isn't a good deep thrower, but other than that is a decent QB - decisive, making some good decisions to bail the team out etc. They just have absolute spit for outside WRs.

I am a little agitated because Nards was saying how great the team looked coming out camp, they just were not sharp today at all.

As others noted, canada has a lot more in the playbook and kept it very basic today, to be expecte.

Let's hope that is the case. The other question is if that is true, can Peterman and company execute?

This was as vanilla on offense as you can get. Kinda hard to get into a rthym when you don't intend to show anything plus you have horrible field posession most of the item in the first half.

I'm not either. Ill reserve judgment until after next week.

I felt to me like pitt was forcing the vanilla. Ford was not involved at all. Seemed very intentional the amount of spreading the ball around through air. Never really tested the deep ball. Once late in the game I think. No imagination on any running play. All of it between the tackles. Conner had to work for the little bit he gained. Officer was not good. Very rusty. Otherwise, we know the o-line is good. Defensively, that was as base as base D gets, and Nova barely did anything with it. Really good day on defense. I'm not worried.

This right here, no more post about it!

Canada was fired from NC STATE for a reason.
Haha yes for interviewing for the Pitt job you knob.

How about people not saying everything sucks when we in the opener 28-7 vs one of the better dlines for a smaller school in the country.

No one expected a blow out. We won by 21 without showing anything for next week. Relax. I know he loves Penn state maybe he should watch them.struggling against Kent state, a team picked to win 5 games and be in 9th in the MAC. A team Illinois beat last year 52-3

My only concern (besides injuries) from the game is our kicker

Seriuosly, do we have ANYONE who can out it through the uprights

Not sure what you were seeing out of the D but here was nothing "base" about the multiple blitz packages we ran today, including delayed safety blitzes out of a nickel set and blitzing the field corner inside the DE. We were doing all kinds of stuff.

I saw very little stunting, I saw no de dropping into coverage. It was predominately man vs man 4 man rush occasional blitz til the nova last couple possessions when they opened it up allowing pitt to get some free shots in

-Our defensive line swallowed up the spread.

The biggest thing I saw today was lack of vertical threat on offense. The one attempt to Weah was there but timing wasn't right. Villanova crowded the box and the line and we never punished them for it.

Oh Maddox had a really good game
