-The D is tough and talented. Gave up a few big plays but for the most part they did really well. Twyman is a beast in the middle. We have 3 really good corners. Ford is living up to his big potential. Johnson is the most talented LB we have had in a while.

The DL wore down in the 2nd half which is natural when you lose 2 talented starters in Weaver and Camp. PS does not get that TD in the second half with Weaver and Camp around.

-KP played really well. He hung in the pocket and delivered nice passes while under pressure most of the game. 2 nice games in a row after being bad the the 1st game. Maybe...hopefully he has turned the corner. Credit to him and Whipple.

-Some nice catches by Mack and nice to see Butler Jenkins with the long catch. But also they dropped a number of passes.

-For a good part of the game the OL was solid in pass protection against a talented PS front 7. KP helped them out as well by staying in the pocket until the last second while under pressure. But the run blocking is horrible. The did not open any holes all game. We have zero running game and that’s killing us.

-As far as the RB’s Vincent Davis has some ability but the kid is still 165 soaking wet. An off-season to add a few pounds will help him. AJ Davis has done well as far as catching the ball and has been solid as a blocker. But as far as running he goes down on first contact. It’s not like he is a small guy at 215 pounds. I’m not expecting him to be Ollison or Hall but the guy does not break any tackles to help out our poor OL.

-The 4th down pass to the transfer TE was a hell of a call. So credit to Whipple and PN for going for it.

-PN & Whipple get credit for the big 4th down conversion and they deserve all the blame for the horrible stand on the 1 yard line. The play calling was bad IMO. Yes we could not run all game. But as others have said why not 4 straight QB sneaks with KP who has been our best runner and is tough. If we average 0.25 yards per sneak we get in lol. Even our crap run blocking OL can average that.

At the end of the day PN is the head coach and is to blame for not going for it on 4th down. I was surprised to lip read Whipple telling PN to take the FG. This is when PN has to say we are going for it so give us ur best call.

Let’s be real 99% of our fans thought we would not have a chance in this game and most thought we would get blown out. So I’ll give credit to PN, his staff and the players for being in it all game. But PN is to blame for lacking the guts to go for it at the end. He had nothing to lose IMO. If we don’t make it...the blame will fall on our crap run blocking OL. And he will still get credit for leading his team to a great game against as team who was favored to kill us. If we get the TD he gets tons of credit.

Unlike many I won’t overreact saying he should be fired. As for the most part we did really well in a game most had us getting killed in. But come on PN...have guts and go for it!

It’s not even guts. It’s just the correct call! Go for it! It’s pretty simple! No guts involved! The 4th and one pass was guts!

You are right going for it is the correct call.

And the bottomline is Pitt 1-2 on the year and 1-5 it’s last 6 games.
After next week 1-6.
They are no moral victories. Getting close doesn’t count.
No such thing as a good loss.

You get use to the losing - just shrug it off.
Par for the course -program is going no where.

]What bothered me about not going for it 4th and goal was I’d complained in real time earlier I felt they should have at least once gone for a 4th and short ( this was before the 4th and 1 pass).... when they finally did it the situation was like “ see? That’s why you try it occasionally “ .... big games you have to take chances

If you’ve ever read the book “ Scorecasting” it has a whole section devoted to the idea of going for it 4th and short... NFL coaches are the most conservative... then college ... but they also talk about some HS coach who decided to NEVER punt one season... his running against the grain paid off that year as he went undefeated... never punted once. Of course that’s extreme... but the point is you gotta try

Narduzzi just doesn't seem to have the best quick decision making. Perhaps he and his coaching staff need to simulate and strategize these situations before they happen. He can say what he wants but I'm sure he'd handle it differently in hindsight.

I think part of it is having a different OC every year.
Pissed Whipple said FG.

A good coach makes those decisions immediately. After years watching and playing the game, they just "know"

One thing that did make me smile yesterday is Lamont Wade. He is not an impactful player at all; I’m surprised he starts. I remember how bummed I was when he chose PSU over Pitt. Now, it doesn’t look bad at all. Didn’t Pitt land Paris Ford in that recruiting class? If so, I’m loving that trade off.

Play calling, no imagination, and still, only 3 points to show for it in 6 second half quarters, Pitt should have won that game, this loss is totally on whipple and the offense. Even though Pickett had a decent game

This is a saying that I have pasted on my wall in my den and that I read before I run a race:
"There's no dishonor in losing the race. There's only dishonor for not racing because you're afraid to lose".

Narduzzi is afraid to lose, even though he's very experienced at it. The decision he made on that goal line was cowardly and dishonorable because he was afraid to lose and he let his team down again.
