And Belichick, who many consider the best coach of all time, is now 27-30 without Brady. Turns out it’s hard to win in the NFL without a Hall of Fame QB.

Hey now, don't forget that he was also 36-44 in Cleveland before anyone outside of his immediate family knew who Tom Brady was.

Although to be fair, his Cleveland teams did finish in second place in the division that one time. Which is pretty good for the Browns.

The defense was pretty good in the second half after getting shredded in the first. But yes, this staff is not very good right now.

The Steelers won a game in which they were underdogs, on the road and playing in PST. The team is 4-2, leads their division and beat two divisional rivals who are apparently good. Yet people are calling for the entire coaching staff to get canned lol. Yinzers are unbelievable.

31st in total offense and 30th in total defense. 26th in points scored. The only stat where PGH isn't in the bottom half of the league is +/-. Yinzers are a lot of things but the bar is set pretty high here. There is also plenty of evidence that the team is winning in spite of the things that are holding it back. It is simply not sustainable and it will not yield playoff success. Again.

God loves the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I get sick of the STUPID YINZERS who say, "We won, that's all that matters, Tomlin is great at 9-8, stop complaining" I agree with you, maybe they get to 9-8 or 10-7 and lose in the wild card vs. KC or Buffalo 38-17.

At least he didn’t waste the back half and prime of his HOF QB’s career.

I credit Tomlin for this one. Coming off the bye, he’s done everything he should and more. And he outschemed and performed McVeigh.

This ^^^

Yinzers focus on this unproductive offense and it’s warranted. But as bad as the offense is on the weighty downs, our high priced defense is often just as bad. Yesterday was a great example of it—for a half. Then this staff dialed something up for the 2nd half and credit needs to be given to them.

Fine, if the team collapses and plays to those rankings, fire away at the coaching staff. Call for the Rooney’s to clean house. The timing of the post just made no sense.

FK, i cant go there with this defense but i cant figure it out. we give up 390 yards per game which is pathetic so yeah we suck. passing yards and rushing yards, we are in bottom 5 in both..

BUT, we give up 22 PPG which is about average but think about how inept our offense has been and how many 3 and outs we've given the defense and well, that's not too bad..

3rd down defense is in top 1/2 of league, takaways, we are top 10.. and not sure this is a stat but man do we turn it up in the 2nd half or what, incredible timely take overs..

so i absolutely cant say we have a dominant defense but i sure as heck cant say the defense is a liability considering well they are pretty much responsible for 3 of our 4 wins..

Kind of crazy that they are 11-4 since the bye last season. Yet it is obvious that there are problems. That is why I say that Tomlin is the greatest half coach in history. He sucks at X's and O's, but somehow he figures out how to win. I can't explain it.

I do think they need to fire Canada and the OL coach, Pat Meyer. They also need to change the defensive scheme and go with a little more man and press coverage. They need to do something that slows down QB so that the d-line has time to pressure. They did do one brilliant thing yesterday when they dropped Watt into coverage.

I’m with you in many ways. My point is, look at 3rd downs yesterday. Tomlin even talked about it. The defense couldn’t get off the field. They gave up a ton of 3rd down conversions and a couple 3rd and longs. They gotta get off the field in the first half of games because good teams will put games away before halftime. But then in the 2nd half of some games, they flip the script and do what they are paid to do. The offense does the same thing. They do nothing on 3rd down and struggle for 3 quarters and then flip the script in the 4th quarter. Is there anything wrong with wanting complete games out of units?

Both units need to be better. It’s not sustainable. If you want to be a good team, you gotta be better. I expect the high priced defense to live up to their billing. They get the timely TO and/or game changing play but they have shown in 4 straight playoff games that it’s not a way to win meaningful games.

Yinzers call the talk shows and complain about the HC, OC and QB. My point is can we mix in some complaints about the vaunted defense that’s the 3rd highest paid but it ranked 30th?

I don't understand why it would take a collapse when it's really difficult to identify the last "good" season this franchise enjoyed. Going 12-4 but losing the last five including a humiliating playoff game to Cleveland? 13-3 and getting boat raced by Blake Bortles? You're talking about a club that hasn't won a playoff game since January of 2017 and has failed to even make the playoffs half of the seasons since with a future HOF'er at QB for most of those years. Now, this 4-2 record is less than a half-dozen plays from being 0-6 and it's not like this schedule is just a murderer's row of outstanding NFL teams. This isn't a good football team.

The Steelers are 4-2 and Tomlin has never had a losing season. Are you able to name 10 NFL head coaches that are better than him? The guy has flaws, but even Belicheck looks mediocre without an elite quarterback.

At least he didn’t waste the back half and prime of his HOF QB’s career.
Ben was a great QB, but he wasn't Brady. He wasn't Manning. He wasn't Rodgers. He wasn't Mahommes.

10 playoff appearances in Ben's 13 healthy seasons, while playing in arguably the toughest conference in the NFL.

In his prime he was putting together 500 yard passing games at clips that manning and Brady and those other guys weren’t doing. He had a guy who was putting up receiving numbers unparalleled in the history of the game. He had Lev Bell and other weapons. Yet Ben’s best years yielded nothing. They underachieved and those years were wasted. It’s ok to say so.

Seriously, it's the NFL. I don't care about any stats other than wins and losses. You can't schedule cupcakes, buy players with NIL money, or impress poll voters. Just get into the playoffs and go from there.

I've completely changed my opinion on the fact that Tomlin has never had a losing season. I prefer the frustration or disappointment of losing the last game than an entire season of apathy, although it's more painful in the moment.

It's tough to be in contention every single time as a professional. There's a reason why tour pros think Tiger Woods' most impressive record is his consecutive cuts made record. With all things being as equal as they are in pro sports, consistently grinding your way through injuries, bad breaks and just not playing well is impressive.

1. Lost 5 of 6, not 5 straight.
2. The Steelers lost by 3 to the #5 scoring team in the league, hardly a boat race. Bortles threw for 53% passing and 214 yards and a TD. Steelers put up 545 yards vs the #1 defense in the NFL.
3. Ben only really played in 1 of those 3 seasons that they missed the playoffs since January of 2017. Ben played 5 quarters in 2019 before a season ending Injury and he was retired in 2022.

True dat.

I'm just glad Brady choked one away to the Broncos in the Divisional Round (the int to Champ Bailey) in 05-06 & wasn't around in 08-09, otherwise, I think the Steelers are still chasing a ring for the thumb.

So if they go 10-7 and lose in the WC round, it's a job well done? Personally, I fire them for not having improved the offense for 3-4 years. Eaking out close defensive, regular season wins, is not good enough for me.

That is true. It’s also true that the patriots cheated their way through Pittsburgh at least once. But come to think of it, I think that was a Cowher team.

It shouldn’t be good for anyone, not just you. Because what you’re describing is the longest stretch of post season futility since the 1960’s.

I'll agree when they win a playoff game against a good team.

Comical. Tomlin took McVay to school in the second half
He did for sure. I agree.

In fairness to Souf, he posted at 6:17pm. I assume that was in the 3rd quarter. Sure that was a Pittpoker posting before the game was over move…but it was true at the time.
