TOS is reporting Paris Ford

Right! He doesn't need to know what he's doing out there, because he's a great athlete. I think you're on to something.

Never mind those pesky little details of understanding the playbook, the coverages, the switches, the responsibilities of the position that seem to get in the way. You know, the minor little things that have kept a whole bunch of our next great things sidelined for their freshman year.

Ford may not redshirt, but we are no longer in a position depth wise to have to play a true freshman who has had zero college practice reps 2 weeks fro the first game of the season.
yep, won;t be able to crack that outstanding playbook knowing record breaking secondary from last year...nope, ain't gonna happen. (whoops, Okie State just scored on another long pass play as I typed) Stud superstar athletes a lot of times can get by without knowing all the pesky little details...wonder how many times Dorsett missed holes because he was young and in experiences as a freshman.. Probably plenty but he was the best man for the job based on his athleticism. .

I have been saying all along this kid is flat out a difference maker. There isn't a snowballs chance in hell he redshirts. This program needed a little good news , and this is it! It is a damn shame that Whitehead had to mess up what could have been a sparkling tandem against the pedophiles in week 2. I would have enjoyed watching that little freak Mcsorely throwing balls up for grabs with those two back there. I am betting that we see plenty of Paris that game, I for one, cannot wait!

Assuming it's true, it's not like press, man coverage is rocket science. You either can or can't.

Dude. It's true and he will be back. Not saying if CPN will start him right away but I can reliably report he will be back. It will be officially announced by likely Sunday from what sources tell me. Kid is a shut down corner and it's not a matter of playbook. He has the ability to take out the top WR of any team we play. Psu and OSU won't throw at him if he's locked up on their number one

We'll see man. Two years ago you'd have had a way better chance of being right, but we have decent depth and talent now. If he doesn't redshirt, I'll go on record as saying he doesn't start a single game at any DB spot, and that the reps he does get will primarily be on special teams and in certain special offensive packages. We have good young players who have been practicing and played by college football for two years.

Your comment reveals your ignorance of what it takes to play defensive back at this level. You can't get by on athleticism alone.

Right, if he's cleared he plays. Very football smart and too talented to redshirt

Some of you guys just don't get it. Elite speed, Elite instincts, electrifying ability, elite confidence and he will put the team first, not himself. He may not start immediately, but it won't take long. Only Whitehead is in his class. We do have better all around talent than we have had in a while, but, we don't have any Paris Ford's for Paris to compete with. Will he make mistakes? For sure. That said, all who doubt will be praising this kid and his ability early and often.

More important than him playing this year is he is officially on the team. Had he went Juco or prep he would have been a FA again and Pitt would have had to keep recruiting him because you can guarantee other teams would.
This. Just. Get. Him. Enrolled.

Sources I have talked to and those very well connected say he is indeed a go but he can't be officially part of the roster until a few times are done but the main issue of his eligibility for the 2017 season has been determined and he is eligible as per TOS but won't be official until all things are official through the NCAA and University.
That doesn't make sense and obviously this post is BS.

What are they waiting on? Nothing will happen with him Saturday or Sunday.

Paris Ford isn't a corner.

He wasn't enrolled in classes this summer. Therefore, I believe he cannot officially join the team until classes start in September. Anyone know if this is the case?

If Paris is anywhere near the athlete we've been led to believe, he'll be gone after 3 years. Makes no sense to redshirt him. Get him ready for the ACC season-- the games that matter most.

Henry a former Quip would look great in our backfield this year. Quips go to Pitt. Here is to hoping Narduzzi can close Raines.

Why do i get the feeling some of you knucklheads think Ford would start next Saturday if we had a game....
some of these knuckleheads think he would start every Sunday this fall if he was allowed to go straight to the pros. He's a very talented kid and a huge get for Pitt but the fact is this ain't the WPIAL, and he hasn't practiced or played one rep of college football and the season starts in 2 weeks. Nobody is questioning the kid's talent but he isn't going to be ready to get meaningful reps at safety when the season starts. He's way behind and despite what some of the more football-ignorant posters seem to think it isn't just a matter of going out there amd succeeding on nothing but athletic ability.

He's slotted to play safety, not corner, right? He won't be up on the LOS playing press, and he will have to know how to call the switches and route checks. Ask Whitehead how easy that was when he went from boundary safety where he was an extra LB to field where he had to know that stuff. He struggled badly defending the pass amd communicating switches with the other DBs, and was called out for it publicly by Narduzzi.

Not to mention your post is fundamentally wrong even if it was meant to apply to a corner.

He's a shut down corner?

Thought he played safety in high school, and is expected to continue to do so at Pitt.

And he's ready to step onto the field now as a true freshman who missed most of fall camp and lock down all the WRs we will face this season?

You must be related to Steel Curtain.

I think this may be a steel curtain account.

at least Bryant was allowed to practice though..
Yeah for ford a true freshman this is valuable time he is missing. As stated in this thread though none of that compares to the single most important thing here... him being on the roster. As long as he is 100% officially part of this program and we don't have to go through the risky process of him having to re-sign into next year's class I'll be satisfied.

So we got the really good news, which is Ford is a Panther and we don't have to worry about losing him. As for his stepping in and being an impact player after missing 3 weeks of practice with the season starting in less than 2 weeks:

“Expectations-wise, with Paris, he’s really, you can say 17 days late,” Narduzzi said. “So my expectations are - and I told him the same thing: we’re not saying, ‘Hey, let’s go Paris; you’re the savior.’ That ain’t gonna happen.

“In my opinion, he’s going to redshirt and if something else happens besides that, it’s a miracle, pretty much. It’s just too hard to come in as a kid like that and come do it. So we’re just happy he’s here, he’s in school and that’s the main thing.”

Is Duzz serious?

RS a guy like this almost certainly means we get 2 yrs out of him.
If it takes him a month to get ready that's still gonna mean 10 games no?

somebody 'splain this?
Thanks

Problem is practice during the season is focused on game planning and prep for the next opponent as opposed to getting in football shape, learning the scheme, the reads, the calls, the techniques and the fundamentals of the position. That's what spring and fall camp is for. He may play some this season but it will be spot duty.

Keep it simple for Ford until he's up to speed.
Most of us played using this playbook cut to the middle at the third tree and I'll throw the ball.

Or for those who grew up in the other neighborhood run to the red car up on blocks, cut to the middle of the street, and I'll throw the ball.

I'm sure Narduzzi and the Duzz Crew can come up with something on D and maybe O simple enough to work Ford in!

PITT needs its best athletes on the field somewhere in some capacity!

2 years? The expectations for Ford are unbelievable on here. Paris Ford may be a good college football player. He may even be an NFL draft pick. However, the chances he leaves for the 2020 draft are extremely miniscule.

FTR, I think redshirts are over used, but the kid is going to get practically 0 practice time and is expected to play a position where it is critical to understand positioning and reads.

Just sayin
Ok?

His pub? He is a big recruit for us, but he was still, at best, behind 50 other recruits. I hope he is great, but the expectations need to be dialed back.
