Of course Pitt has to take care of their own business and prove they deserve a better ranking by performing well vs. UNC/ND/Duke in a few weeks (and no let-downs at Syracuse tomorrow), but it also takes other teams losing to move up in the rankings. Here are the tough upcoming games for the 11 teams ranked directly in front of Pitt.

THIS WEEK
#15 TexA&M @OleMiss
#17 Oklahoma vs. TexTech
#20 Cal @UCLA (L, 24-40) ... Could 5-2 (#28) UCLA pass Pitt?
#23 Duke @VT
#24 Ole Miss vs. TexA&M

NEXT WEEK (when Pitt faces North Carolina)
#14 OklahomaSt @TexTech
#19 Toledo vs. UNI
#20 Cal vs. USC (Cal might be out next week)
#22 Temple vs. ND
#23 Duke vs. Miami
#24 Ole Miss @Auburn

IN 2 WEEKS (when Pitt faces Notre Dame)
#14 OklahomaSt vs. TCU
#15 TexA&M vs. Auburn
#18 Memphis vs. Navy
#20 Cal @Oregon (Cal might be out)
#21 Houston vs. Cincinnati
#23 Duke @UNC

I understand they are ALL important games going forward for us to remain in the Top 25.

Keeping the week-by-week intensity on the field of play is a big challenge for this coaching staff. If they stay in the hunt for the Coastal crown, it will certainly help. No easy wins for a developing team like Pitt with a new coaching staff.

The fact that they are 5-1 was helped by a favorable schedule and improving game day management and adjustments by the staff. Wish we had Conner coming back this year to add some zip into the step of the offense. Our schedule gets tougher after Syracuse.

Not all that favorable. We have played more away games (with hostile referees) so far this season than any other school in the country.
We lost our best player in the 1st game - a potential Heisman and best player in ACC.
It's truly amazing what Narduzzi has done with this team.

Surprised that VT is favored over Duke this week; also FSU is only favored by 6 over GT.

Go Pitt.
