Twist to Porter Story

You have no idea what Porter is coaching these guys to do. The scheme is set by the defensive coordinator, not Porter. He isn't responsible for strategy.

I think he's done a good job with developing Bud Dupree. That guy was really raw when drafted and he has turned into a difference maker on that outside spot.

You're right on that, I absolutely can't imagine what Porter does as a coach. I hope it's something resembling anything useful

It really doesn't matter after this weekend's game. This will all go away!!!

he's coaching this weekend.
Is he going to be wearing Steelers stuff, an Orange jump suit, or stripes like the officials wear. Hope the Steelers help him off the field after the game its hard to run in shackles so he could be there a while.

Got him off? Holmes spent two months in a Psych Ward then went back to Ohio and pled guilty to assault with a deadly weapon. He got 5 years probation after a doctor from the Psych Ward testified that he suffered from mental issues.
You don't think shooting at a State Trooper and not spending time in jail is not getting off. Believe me 5 years probation and being able to play the following year is "getting off". Lets not forget about the snow in the bathroom event a few years later. Having said all that, one of my favorite players and he would have that arrowhead haircut this week.

Is he good enough for employing as a coach at the highest level of football? Seemed unlikely. Seemed for a favor for an old Steeler pal who needed a job, honestly. The OLB aren't particularly outstanding and when they are, it's more because of their natural talent more than any kind of erudite strategy or technique a wise student of the game like Joey Porter is purveying.

He did undeniably win them the Bengal playoff game last year by baiting their morons into PFs, though. Earned his keep if only for that. Of course he probably should have cost them a bench penalty for that, but luckily NFL officiating is equally dense.

I feel similarly about "Pitt guys" getting coaching or admin jobs for us. That's a nice thing and all, but they gotta produce. Take Hank Poteet. Glad to give an old Panther a coaching job, but is he any good at it?

I think Porter has actually done a great job. Bud Dupree last year looked stiff, had 1 move and got stood up a lot at the line. He started to get better as the year went on and appears to be a star in the making.

Anthony Chickillo last year was a a project who was on the practice squad, earned his way onto the roster as a special teamer, then onto the field. This year he started a few games and has moved past Arthur Moats.

Jarvis Jones while being a pile of shit since day 1 has only started to resemble a backup OLB the past 2 years.

While you can't give any coach ALL the credit, I give Joey a lot of credit for the development of these 3. Good chance one of the top two picks next year will be a other OLB, so more for him to work with.

I see the Pittsburgh mafia made a deal with the police. If you think any of us would get the same, I have ocean front property in WV to sell you. Justice isn't a white and black thing , it's a green thing
The only surprise in how this all unfolded is that there would be any surprise from anyone at all.

You don't tug on Superman's cape. You don't whiz into the wind. You don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger. And you especially don't mess around with the Rooneys.

That officer has effectively been black-and-goldlisted. Between the imminent Rooney wrath and police-hating Peduto, he should be making relocation plans.

That's certainly true. But there are tons of places to go on the South Side. I'm sure Porter's ego fueled by whatever he ingested prevented him from just going somewhere else.

It's a good possibility both of these guys are enormous asswipes.
Players were having a party upstairs that's why he was there

I know many Pittsburgh cops. Almost all are Pittsburgh sports fans and huge Steelers fans. The cop in question is a good guy from all that I've talked to. I know the stereotypes of cops and having an agenda but thats not the case. The cops in this area would need to have a good reason to arrest a Pittsburgh athlete/coach, especially a Steeler.
Funny just curious was he a good cop when he was fired for pistol whipping a guy and threatening to kill him. Cops stick together and will never say line is bad.
Not saying porter isn't wrong but isn't it possible so was the bouncer and the cop. Difference is profile and possibly something else I won't say.

I really don't care about Joey Porter, the bouncer, his actions, etc. I don't have an issue with this cop because of this because I don't care about the Steelers that much.

But on the subject of Paul Abel you have a guy who admitted to having four beers and two shots in a south side bar, got in to a mystery confrontation with someone who punched him from inside their car (Lord knows how that actually even happened). He then retrieved his pistol, chased around the south side until he found his "assailant" who witnesses testified didn't look anything like the guy that actually punched him. Then he pistol whips the guy and accidentally shoots him in the hand.

He is cleared of charges in a non-jury trial. And people wonder why there is rampant mistrust of law enforcement. Bottom line, if you are a fire fighter, EMT, ER surgeon, policeman, etc. once you go out for the night and start putting down alcohol well that's it for you for the night. I can't believe he kept his job after admitting to that amount of alcohol intake and then having a shooting incident. It's ridiculous. Sorry to all the great cops but the union can't stand behind those kind of incidents and expect people to feel sorry for them when they come out flying their flag upside down.
