Unless your panther club ranking is 600 or better, you are SOL for penn state away tix

I am considering buying Penn State season tickets. Gotta do some math to figure if its better to Stubhub the Pitt game or buy the season and sell the other 6 games. They do have Michigan at home.

Youll be able to get seats through stubhub for less than what Pitt charges. Yeah, you wont be sitting in the Pitt section, but so what?

I am not arguing that the highest donors should not get 1st priority...of course they should. I was just stating how few of us will be there in the Pitt section. I will buy season tix and sell the Michigan game for the entire cost

I called the PSU ticket office. Its $485 (including $100 donation) per seat for upper sideline between the 10 and goalline.

I think Im going to buy 4. I'll sell every ticket but 2 Pitt tickets and probably make a couple hundred and have 2 Pitt tickets for free.

You wont buy tickets on Stubhub? If I dont get tickets through Pitt, I'll either do that or buy PSU season tickets.

Depends. I'm not spending like $300 for a ticket.

I have family that are PSU ticket holders and always get tickets so I will probably work it through them. I'll just go up and tailgate even if I can't get in the game.

Not too worried.

Huh? Pitt will charge the face value for the tickets that PSU sets. If you are buying tickets on StubHub for less than face value, you should offer a clinic on how to do so. Hail to Pitt!

Those were my thoughts as well.

If Pitt charges too much and their requirements are too steep, then they might end up having to give some back like Penn State did.

Heaven forbid your thought process is to support your panthers:confused:
I am really struggling to decide if we will be going. We have good friends who are PSU faithful and want to "host" us as we did them at Heinz, but the difference between Pittsburgh and HV is that it is impossible to get away from those people anywhere up there. Pittsburgh is a city - they had many options to get away from Pitt fans.

I have my hotel for the weekend booked. I will not be driving my car up as it does have pitt stickers on it. I wear my pitt gear there everytime I am there. I am sure it will be nasty for some

What exactly are you talking about? Pitt charges face value for the tickets it receives from the home team and sells them to their fans based upon priority points in the Panther Club. There is no mark up. I have been purchasing tickets for away games from Pitt for a couple decades. Trust me, there will be absolutely no mark up on the tickets. Not sure where you guys make this stuff up from...but nothing here. Hail to Pitt!

I get tickets for most events for less than face on Stubhub all the time.

Here's the clinic:

Buy your tickets the day before or the day of the game when brokers get scared and lower prices or people realize they cant go and are looking to dump. This works 99% of the time.

I've been going to from 1 to 3 games a year for over 30 years and I've rarely had a ticket in advance (I usually make a game day decision). Anyway, you can always expect 5% to 10% of the people will change plans on game day for many reasons (sickness, funeral, unexpected work, etc). This happens every game. Sometimes I buy random single tickets and we get back together in the 1st or 2nd quarter once we figure out where there are some openings (remember, most of Beaver Stadium is bench seating so it's easy to move about). Often I'm just given tickets out in the lots. For scalpers I go to the Northeast corner of the stadium.

You may be overestimating their worth. If the past couple of seasons are any indication the only games you are likely to get any real premium on are Pitt and Michigan. Maybe Nebraska, but that's going to be dependent on how good Nebraska ends up being and what the weather is going to be like up there in mid-November. The Akron, Georgia State, Indiana and Rutgers tickets are going to be worth almost nothing.

Being in that stadium with 100k PSU fans and JoePa apologists sounds like just about the worst nightmare imaginable ... I'll watch from my couch, thank you very much.

I truly believe that PSU will be as hospitable as Pitt fans were last year. I had a great time, but I always do when I am in Pittsburgh.

Like jump in any of the great fast moving rivers in Pittsburgh where they can exit somewhere in Ohio.

Will go on PSU grad/brother's season tickets. Only fair since he came to Pittsburgh for our game. Great time in the Burgh. They tailgate regularly with a good group (tolerance for differing opinions). We don't dicuss the JoePa stuff anymore. Never get past it. Most stalwart PSU fans I have met were changed significantly by the events and admit flaws of the "institution" that was PSU football. We did same on the last series back in 2000. Gotta a nephew in Blue Band now to boot. Should be a good indication of this Pitt squad after Canada, Petermen and Conner. Hopefully the Pitt OLine has a good day and we keep it close or pull the upset.

Love that the rivalry is played again and hope it works back onto the schedule soon.

Any recommendations on where to stay other than right in state college? Hotels are $600+ there - sorry, not paying that for a comfort inn.

Looks like Clearfield is about an hour out and also lock haven is 40 min. Anywhere else within an hour? Also, is there a less congested route coming in from one of the areas. Or are all directions in about the same.

On tickets - I will probably just wing it and hope I can find something reasonable on StubHub or maybe someone on here ends up having a few unused closer to game day.

That Comfort Inn will require a 2 night minimum. Use AirBnB and try to find one that isn't a student apartment because that will be a mess.

There's a newer Comfort Inn on 99 past Altoona. It's about 30 minutes outside of State College. Alroona is your option. They have a nice Marriott beside the convention center. It's about 45 minutes away from State College.

I went to the last game at Beaver Stadium in full Pitt gear and everyone treated me well.

I'm not totally familiar with all details of airbnb. So, does the host(or people who live there) stay the weekend with you?

I rented a home at ND a few years ago and was a great choice vs hotels. But, that one the owners were not there. We basically got a code for lockbox with keys.

You have to buy them now and have to before Feb 1. You dont need to make the donation yet because in March they tell you what seats you can get based on what donation you want to give. Then you if you dont like any available seats, the refund your money in full. I gotta admit its a pretty good system. The guy I talked to on the phone assured me plenty of good seats would be available.

Yea, maybe.

I'm thinking

Akron, GSU = 40 each
Indiana, RU = 50 each
Neb = 100
Mich = 150

That would mean my Pitt ticket would cost $55 and I can write off my donation to PSU athletics after I puke.

I think Im gonna buy 4 and sell the other Pitt tickets for 150-200 each which would make MY Pitt tickets free.

Obviously this is all just guesswork, but I'd guess you are a little high on the four crummy teams (those kind of games have not sold out for PSU in the recent past), but if Michigan is having a really good season you may be underestimating that one. And if Nebraska ends up being a division champion contender, which they certainly could in that division, and the weather ends up being nice you might get a lot more than that for that one. Nebraska fans tend to travel pretty well when things are going good. On the other hand, if Nebraska is mediocre and the weather is crappy $100 might be too much for that one.

In short, who knows?
