Saw Max at USC-BAMA Game and follow him in later games, he got off to a slow starts and some say it was due to the no Huddle, but Pitt Offense cannot afford a slow start early on the first 3 of 4 games.
Pitt Defenses will need time to gel and that did not happen all season long last year. The Offense has to be confident and score often and early. Pitt Coach Pat & OC Watson has some figuring out to do by August and Max has much more to improve upon but should have the protection and weapons, but USC's Darnold had no problem once he took over.
I think we will know in first YSU game and Max Browne will get the start but DiNucci will play a lot too. If Max had one year under his belt like Peterman did in 2016 I would be more confident, but i see Max making mistakes as he grows in QB just like Nate did in 2015.
This would be a tough year for Pitt with its schedule so early and Max still weaning. If it is DiNucci the same thing! Max experience was not playing in many games just like Nate and under 3 to 4 coaches. This is not a test for Max Browne as much as it is a test for coach Pat & Watson Coaching. New OC, QB, and TE have to be ready by Game 2, 3, & 4! OLs, RBs & WRs can make it happen but that QB must run the show.
Unless and until Pitt Defense show up way early, and can't depend on that with New DLs, LBs & DBs still undecided too?

Three months into his new gig, plenty of work remains to be done. Browne salvaged an admittedly “bleh” afternoon with a late scoring drive during Pitt’s spring game Saturday. His late 27-yard touchdown pass to Tre Tipton was hardly a thing of beauty – it sailed over the wrong shoulder and forced Tipton to make a diving, twisting grab in the end zone. Still, Tipton caught it. Hey, it’s a start. “That’s a big time drive, that’s the explosion you like to see,” Browne said. Browne just would have liked to see a little bit more of it. He finished 13 of 28 for 144 yards and the one score during an afternoon in which he was simultaneously the old guy and the new guy. Spring drills began with Browne making what he called “rookie” mistakes, particularly when it came to going through the pre-snap sequence. Yet over the course of 15 practices he felt he built momentum heading into camp. “I got that (pre-snap) part down and was just playing good ball after that, which is huge and why I came in here,” Browne said.................. Narduzzi was quick to praise all four quarterbacks and said there is a leader in the race between Browne and DiNucci (who went 5 for 5 for 60 yards). Narduzzi just isn’t tipping his hand. As he pointed out, the Panthers still have 140 days to prepare for the 2017 opener against Youngstown State on Sept 2.
