Nothing. But folks act like he was offering some novel insight that wasn’t already available to 99.9% of the board.unless it was behind a pay wall, what's the big deal of that?

I had a problem with him at first because he liked to drop the “my sources say” stuff. And not that I read his stuff and hung on every word, but it seemed to me that he stopped that kind of stuff and just posted insights, whether his own stuff or stuff he regurgitated from others. Either way, I started to mildly enjoy reading his posts when I felt he was no longer acting like some insider with sources. But maybe he never stopped...it’s just I stopped seeing that kind of talk when I came around here.Nothing. Only certain opinions get latitudeI thought that was kind of the whole point of message boards. Someone makes a point, some else gives a competing viewpoint, people argue back and forth to no great effect. On to the next topic.
His schtick was silly and self aggrandizing .I had a problem with him at first because he liked to drop the “my sources say” stuff. His schtick was silly and self aggrandizing .
He was a more amusing and informative smf since he actually would post stats based in reality -
Unlike smf who is most often untethered from it
I’d assumed he was back on the Duquesne bandwagonOn the hoopie board. 🙄
I said it was nice how he collated stuff on recruits.....that is why I think Vader was Doke. But he told people like Steelers72 and many others exactly what they wanted to hear. That this kid was a top talent, or we are in on this guy and such and such and yeah, great stuff to read, who wouldn't hear that...but at the end of the day, the line from Josey Wales applied: "don't go pissing down my leg and tell me its raining".I had a problem with him at first because he liked to drop the “my sources say” stuff. get banned, come with a new screen name and go right back to attacking posters. Great strategy. His schtick was silly and self aggrandizing .

Why was he banned? I've heard accusations of him possibly stealing other people's material, but I'm not sure if that's true. Was he regurgitating information from a pay site?
If you think that was an attack -get banned, come with a new screen name and go right back to attacking posters. Great strategy.
Or Reader’s Digest - good analogyHe didn't steal anyone's info. He took very publicly available information, combined it, phrased it in the best possible light, and then reposted that information out as analysis.
He was the TV Guide book from back in the day.
His shit was bogusOr maybe he just got tired of all the negativity directed his way for providing more in depth info than any other poster !
But they were fiction. The Vader posts were by far the most enjoyable posts on the board if you are an optimistic person. I'd definitely enjoy more of them.
Oh no-But they were fiction.
And whose posts are facts? At least he gave good recruiting information for all of us who do not follow all the possible recruits that Pitt is interested in.But they were fiction.
You're just mad because you were banished to a time out. LOLOh no-
An anonymous poster having a positive spin on Pitt issues !
No wonder he bothered the fatalist
The players not materializing on the court and not committing is on the coaches not Vader. Plenty of factual information that I didnt feel like scavenging for was included in the posts. I get not wanting to do Vader posts anymore too with the tsunami of negativity that kept coming in response to them, the lackluster on and off court results, and the transfer portal losses. But they were fiction.
Not mad at allYou're just mad because you were banished to a time out. LOL
Look, his posts were harmless. But they weren't reality, every Pitt commit is not an NBA prospect and every target was not leaning to Pitt (obviously). I understand people want to hear positive news, they want to hear what they want to hear. Unfortunately, in our society today, most people really don't want to hear the truth. So Vader's posts was like drinking strawberry kool aid. Fun, tastes good, makes you feel good, long term not so good. The players not materializing on the court and not committing is on the coaches not Vader. Not being able to differentiate between what is fluff and what is truth is on the reader. I could pull up primary sources on the players he mentioned (youtube...) and see for myself how they performed. A secondary source is a secondary source. You either have a direct quote from a player about his thoughts on Pitt, or you don't. We are not victims of Vader posts, there was nothing bad about them. The societal problem is falling for unsourced garbage without looking for the primary source - not someone being positive on a message board.Look, his posts were harmless. I agree that he sounded JUST like Doke. But I asked someone I know who knows Doke a little bit who said “there’s NO way Doke would post something he couldn’t take credit for.” LolI said it was nice how he collated stuff on recruits.....that is why I think Vader was Doke. Because much of the "positive" stuff in regards to Pitt was not rooted in reality, just hope....fan hope. Which is fine, but you guys would buy this stuff like it is $1 drafts.
Yeah I agree. It wasn’t always my cup of tea (I’m not particularly a fan of his style of self aggrandizement) but he was certainly harmless, and more often enjoyable to read. Not being able to differentiate between what is fluff and what is truth is on the reader. Yeah, but here's the thing....I don't care. I mean, it bothers me none if he posts 30 posts a day or zero. I just gave my take as to let's just say, his overzealousness. It is much ado about nothing. At least from me.He’s a dude posting with an alias
There isn’t anything more to it
Step up and be the aggregator of recruiting info out there with your critical analysis based in the reality you perceive
Holy crap/ guy posted Pitt related content and generated actual dissuasion about Pitt hoops
how outrageous
Fwiw, the reaction to his posts from some on the board is over the top. I enjoyed the Vader posts and they added some fun to the conversation. Hopefully, he'll be back but I wouldn't be surprised if he grew tired of the backlash he was getting.
Well you know what PT Barnum is famous for saying.I enjoyed his posts. Much more so than some regulars on the Lair.
But he intentionally packages it with his own editorializing as though he is some font of college hoops knowledge. His personal “insights” as to how the player—that he never saw play outside of a highlight clip at most—would fit in and/or contribute at Pitt were just complete and total fiction and nonsense.I mean… that’s all he did. Vader didn’t have any unique insight or insider info. He just aggregated info and posted advanced stats available to every poster on this board.
By my memory of some of his posts John Hugley was supposed to be a dominant 4- 5 man in the NBA right now after leading Pitt to an Elite 8 as a true frosh.Look, his posts were harmless. Try ginkgo biloba.By my memory of some of his posts John Hugley was supposed to be a dominant 4- 5 man in the NBA right now after leading Pitt to an Elite 8 as a true frosh.
What exactly are you saying?Well you know what PT Barnum is famous for saying.
Nah. I'm more of a bourbon and scotch guy.Try ginkgo biloba.
