VB: @ Louisville, 11/27/24 - Match Info

Have we ever seen as dominant a team in Pitt history I know in 76 Pitt was dominant in football, but only near as dominant as these ladies due to being undefeated. Wow 28-1 with less than 10 total games lost with 86 wins, that is totally dominant.
In the 3 matches that Pitt played against PSU and Louisville, who are ranked 3 and 4 in the country, Pitt won 9 sets and lost 3. That is domination that no Pitt football team could equal.

A few "misc." observations:
-Given that Pitt won the match 3 sets to 1, most of the metrics (e.g., kills, attempts, hit %, errors, blocks) were surprisingly close though all in favor of Pitt. Even more so considering Pitt won sets 3 and 4 by 5 points plus, and were really separating in set 1 until Louisville's late run.
-So why the difference? Louisville is excellent, but not as well rounded, and Pitt has 3 really dominant players at their respective positions.
-Stafford was Huge in the 3rd set, with the match tied at 1-1. 'So reliable in crunch time.
-Set 2 - ??? I thought Louisville served really well and our receive was sub-par. As was the case vs. SMU, they were hurt with short serves, though Klicka in particular recognized this in 3 and 4 and adjusted.
-Meyer has definitely up'd her service game the last 2 or 3 matches, Great depth. I assume we didn't see Griffin for a reason. Fairbanks also had a good serving night after being inconsistent recently.
-Anyone have an idea whey Coach Fisher went with Virlan...I think...on two rotations in the 4th? I can't believe it was to give her big time exposure; rather Kelley or Jones was gassed.

a couple of things were much different from the first match at the Pete to yesterday

1st while veryrust says Pitt is more well rounded, that didn't show in the first at the Pete while it did yesterday

also in the Pete match Luper was flawless in all parts of her game and Louisville got contributions from everyone while Pitt needed to rotate in more subs

the sub insertion happened yesterday as Fish wanted differently from the Pete match where it was forced due to Olivia's higher risk than reward serving that day which importantly changed yesterday, in fact yesterday's performance key imo was the overall solid serving of the entire Pitt team which made Louisville need to fight for every winning point as Pitt didn't let up

Pitt was just more solid everywhere in every phase except for that 2nd set where Louisville stepped it up, got the crowd more involved and Pitt appeared less aggressive

Louisville is great, Pitt is greater and if Olivia is able to avoid her risk serve potential then it should be a Pitt v Nebraska final

Penn State won 109 consecutive matches back about 15 years ago. In one of those seasons they only lost two sets all year.
Joe, when I went to Pitt (1970 - 1974) Pitt's women's volleyball team was a club level sport. I was dating a gal who played on the team. She stood 5'3". No such thing as a libero, outside, opposite, et al. Everyone rotated. Much different game/sport back then
