I hope that was our coldest stretch of the game and we got that out of the way.
This is going to be a typical grind it out game. It would be nice if we could get some transition points before they set up their defense.
Need to relax and take what’s given. Forcing too many bad shots.
We haven't been able to get inside at all. We have to get it low and kick it out to shooters, whether we drive it or pass it in to Fede.

Agree. Against this defense the problem is figuring out what is given, and it ain't much.
Easy to see why. They are getting whatever they want on offense, as evidenced by the 3 pointer at the end of the half. At the other end we have to work like hell to get an open shot.
Biggest blunder of the half was Capel putting Santos in the game with Graham at the same time.
8-2 Virginia run in roughly 2 minutes with multiple defensive breakdowns that led to two wide open Virginia 3's. The lead would be 4 if this didnt happen.
No more Santos, he is no where near ready against teams like this. That is a Capel blunder and he should know better at this point in a critical game like this.

Elliot and Hinson heat up from from 3, Burton / Cummings utilizing drive and kick outs. Virginia is doubling and collapsing on dribble penetration, speed the passing up and pass it back outside.

Didn't really expect to win this one. Unfortunately Clemson is next and they are like Clemson-lite and we never beat them.
Schedule has been downright brutal to begin ACC play. They seem to do it to Pitt beginning of conference play every season.
Yea but if we are 4-1 after Saturday, we have a real shot considering we have 5 left vs FSU, Lou, BC and other winnable games. Need to win 4 of those 5. Just need to win 5 of the other 10 games.
I didn't expect to win either. That said, I thought this team had the pieces to make it a good game. One thing that is becoming clear, is Fede needs to play all 40 minutes in a game like this, our defense turns to mush without him. Since fouls and fatigue make that impossible, we have to find away to get the offense going. We were 3 of 11 from three and only shot 32% overall. They were up at 48 %.
If this doesn't change we lose at home by 20. I realize as Sauce stated above, this is just a horrible match up for us, but, we can be better than we were in the 1st half. We got to be miles better if we want a chance in the end.
Anyone know if you can buy the pullover Capel is wearing anywhere? Football coaches wore a similar one in blue and I wasn't able to find it for sale throughout the season.

UVa's offense has been incredible the last 10-13 minutes. They've scored on almost every possession
We have hit 2 threes so far off dribble penetration and kickouts in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half, adjustment made. Keep doing it until they can stop it.

Fede hasn't done much. He's also getting beat for many rebounds. An extra big body is never a bad thing.
