Did I read this correctly?
Coach Fisher gets an All-
American PSU player to
transfer to Pitt. She has
two years of eligibility
left and is joining an
already powerful Pitt
team this coming season.

I don't know much about
this sport, but apparently
Fisher knows how to
recruit. Of course he has
a nationally ranked program
which helps. 2021-22, Pitt
is loaded with four All -
American types.
I know, I know LOL, this is
a Bball board, but still.

Can’t hurt he is coach of U-20 women’s National Training Team, either.

Good point! Of course
she's coming from PSU,
another powerful team.
I know it's not football,
but a player of this caliber
coming from PSU to
Pitt of all places is more
than interesting. This
isn't Coach Fisher's first
of this type. He already
has an SEC All Star coming
in for next season. Fisher
apparently is at or near
the top of the heap in the
college world of volleyball
coaches.
His team seems to now
be at that level also.
NCAA champs in the
future???

great find thanks for sharing. i watch it all on accn. love it. coukd never do that before, same with baseball and soccer

A couple of the other transfers are coming off of injuries. That could either be a buy-low strategy or maybe they're just looking for a change of scenery during recovery. I'm not sure if that factored into this signing.

PSU is also a top program, so it could be she is fighting for playing time. She is a former teammate of Lund, so maybe she just really heard good things about Fisher.

Pitt has put themselves in an interesting position where they have a really good shot to be the top team in the ACC every single year. Hopefully they can keep recruiting and touting the new arena construction.

The Lund connection makes
sense. However she's been
a 3 yr. starter for the Nits,
and twice an honorable
mention All American.
I doubt she's fighting for
playing time. Pitt's front
line is going to be scarey
good. They return their
starters and the transfers
seemingly are just as
good.

Bottom line, Fisher has
developed maybe the best
athletic program at Pitt along
with men's soccer. It seems
to be getting even better.

Nice!

Hopefully a loaded OoC schedule this fall. We’re going to be prohibitive favorites to win the ACC I would think.

Felt like we were an offensive weapon short last season to win a national championship and we add two high level front line players. Exciting times.

Nika Markovic was our most decorated player and lost her starting role in her senior year. She was 3rd team, so even better than honorable mention.

Ok, I'm sure it could happen.
My guess though is she's
coming here to play. I'm
not suggesting the coach
gave her a guarantee that
she'd start, but he undoubtedly
went over who is coming
back, and where she'd fit in.

My prediction.....she and
the other transfer from
the SEC compete favorably
with our front line returnees.

I can't imagine Lund or Ndee
losing their starting positions,
Starks however might be in
jeopardy. Regardless Fisher
has the makings of a very
strong rotation.

It’s not hard to read into this transfer as anything but really exciting. The quotes from Fisher and others (like Lund and one of the assistant coaches ) on social media indicate this is a big addition to the roster .

Maybe you misunderstood my point: I am suggesting she was possibly competing for minutes AT PSU and sought a different program where she'd be a bigger piece.

I understood your point,
and you just might be
right about minutes at
PSU. On the other hand
Pitt returns its front line
of Lund, Ndee, and Starks.
Also the all league SEC
transfer adds to an even
stronger front line. My
guess is she'll be facing
tougher minutes here than
at PSU.

Right now Pitt is the better
program IMO. She probably
sees an ACC championship
and another deep run in
the NCAA's.

The transfer from the SEC (I must have missed the announcement when Oklahoma made the move) was injured and not going to play this upcoming season. Perhaps because of that, she appears to no longer be coming to Pitt. That is what gary was trying to allude to in his post, but he just couldn't come right out and say it, he had to try to be as opaque as possible.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of
the SEC transfer being
injured. Even so, with the
PSU transfer, we're still
VERY strong on the front
line.

As long as he stays here, we will be an NCAA contender.

That could be accurate. For as good as our program is, PSU is still getting better talent than us. This is changing, but we still don't recruit at their level.

i mean this sincerely, i love this thread!
just amazing to see pitt sports teams doing well
vb
soccer
baseball (almost)
wrestling

good stuff
