Was this real? Or?

Even if we shot 30% from 3 we win by 8. We played hard defensively(not Hugley). We moved the ball. Had 22 assists and outrebounded them by 10 after getting abused on the glass in the first half(Hugley).

Was this an indicator that this team will be decent and have an over 0.500 season? Or, was this just a one-off game like the win over UNC at their place last season?
It is more real than not. However, as I said before the game was played today, this was a good matchup for us. They play good, solid D, but don’t press. They don’t have threats under the basket and they don’t rebound particularly well. This is not a team that matches up well against us and it proved out tonight!

Not many, but they actually look like a real team on offense and even defense. Hugely an issue. Not sure he wants to be here or anywhere for that matter. Still a bummer about Dior. Good riddance to this boring B10 crap challenge.

Yeah, you look like a real team when shots are falling in. And you don't look like a real team when they are falling out. I'm not sure we will continue to shoot like that.

I hear what you're saying. However, if we shot our season average in 3 point percentage, we still would have won by 8.

Yeah - clearly won’t shoot 65% from 3 very often - but we won by almost 30.

They were largely wide open , in rhythm, jump shots from players you want shooting .

I thought Nike and Burton made some really tough shots early that seemed to loosen the whole team up. Shooting can be so contagious.

We were committed to defense which was great to see - good energy from tip to final buzzer- fought through screens and defended the whole shot clock.

The ball movement was just beautiful.

It will be interesting to see if teams stop doubling the post and clogging the paint against us.

Also encouraged that I didn’t cringe at any of the jump shots — we want Nike, Nelly, Greg, Burton, Hinson shooting open jump shots with confidence.

Last season- pretty much any jump shot - was hard to watch .

They moved the ball well and got open looks and made them. It’s been a while since all of those things happened in one game at the same time, which lead to a blowout. I agree that we still would have won if we shot more “normal”. Still need to cut down on the turnovers and missed layups, and we may tack a few more wins up.

Only about 10 turnovers last night and no missed layups that I recall except a few of the contested variety or when fouled on the play. But, I agree that it is a yes to both concerns based on the prior series of games.

We will have to see what happens with the number of turnovers when we see lots of full court pressure going forward. That will be the test.

Nike missed a bunny that he makes 9 times out of 10, but otherwise the other misses in close were very contested.

Great defense and good ball movement with extra passes to make a good shot a better shot. Hugley is a liability as long as he's this lazy and out of shape. Keep him on the bench and let these guys play defense. The offense and shots were created by the great defense, which we haven't seen like this since a Dixon-coached team. Are we sure that wasn't really Coach Dixon out there posing as Capel? Oh wait...Dixon has a better tan.
