Watched Mich vs OSU and it's amazing...

Imagine being a recruit and being invited by Michigan to that game. Pitt and nearly every other team in the Country has no chance. But, people are correct, there are hundreds of millions of miles between Pitt and Michigan/Ohio State.
And Bama and Georgia and the list goes on

And all of them think they're first-team worthy. Luckily for them, the Portal of Broken Dreams came along.

We will never be Bama Ga OSU or Mich.

But after watching a weekend of football, specifically the SEC games, i am convinced Pitt can do two things which are within their grasp

1) Enough of these stupid penalties. Our defense gets off the field but a dumb personal foul and its 1st and 10. Our offense gets a key 3rd and long only to be negated by a holding call away from the play.

These ridiculous penalties have plagued Pitt since Narduzzi got here.

2) find a QB that can run. This needs no explanation. Anyone who watched Bama Auburn....or has watched Daniels at LSU....

Pitt is famous for having statues at QB, save for Pickett.

Pitt should be able to solve both of these issues.... and if so will not have to go through another crap season like this one.

Ohio St and Michigan (along with the others), ALWAYS took football seriously. They were both prestigious academic institutions, but they never looked down on football. They built top football programs and maintained them going over 100 years.

Every time Pitt was on top in football, the academics kick it down. For some stupid reason the academics thought they were too good for football. In the 20's/30's Pitt took down Jock Sutherland. They allowed the 70's and early 80s to happen, but went cheap after Jackie. There was some hope with the talent Gottfried was bringing in, but that is when the brain trust really exploded the football program. In the late 90s to today, the best we are allowed is to be respectable. They will not pay to move us above that, and they don't care if we suck, as long as we do not suck so bad to lose ACC money to fund "more respectable sports." That is who Pitt is.

Now it's 2023 going into 2024 and Michigan and Ohio St are still highly prestigious institutions and their highly ranked football teams are building off their great history and in the driver's seat on conference realignment. Pitt risk yet again being left behind because football may not be good enough to get into a super league. At that point, there will not be money for the "more respectable sports" and personally I can't wait as this is what they deserve.
