I like it, and looks like they can keep fresh legs at almost every position. By Midseason around 6th and 7th games, if injuries are avoided, Pitt will have Back-Ups at every position but QB.

If this Pitt Line Up can win and be at 6-0, 5-1, or 4-2, it bodes well for the remaining 6 games of the season and could end up 10-2 or 9-3!

Now that the Line Up ready it comes down to Player Execution from Great Game Plans and Coaching Sideline and Half-Time Adjustments.

Can't wait for the season and Villanova is a great opening test before September 10th?

Surprised by:

Idowu at the Star and a little at Lewis at CB.

Our OL is stout!

Definitely agree on the Star LB position. I'm surprised that neither McKee or Brightwell were able to make an impact at that position. Granted, they are RS FR, so there is plenty of time, but they both look the part of excellent hybrid LB/S types.

The OL is going to be strong barring a rash of injuries, which hopefully PITT avoids after dealing with multiple injuries over the past couple of years.

Having DB talent like Reggie Mitchell coming of the bench highlights the quick uptick in depth. Injury aside, he seemed to be among the most trustworthy DB talents on the field not too long ago. Future, and present, are bright for Pitt.

McKee (6'2") and Brightwell (6'0") are both listed as 210 pounds. Therein may lie the problem with them playing more than spot or situational duty.

Though Idowu is only listed as 6' and 215#; and Zeise is listed as 6'2" and 225#...

I was glad to see Aaron Mathews in the 2-deep backing up Weah. I think Aaron contributes this season.

Go Pitt.

A pet peeve - Pitt should also list who will be playing on each of the special team units.

Coaches are always harping about how important special teams are but then never give the special-team players the recognition they deserve.

Go Pitt.

I thought about the weight of both McKee and Brightwell and came upon the same conclusion; there is not that much difference between 210 and 215# at roughly the same height.

Aaron Matthews is likely going to provide some significant PT this year. He definitely looks the part, the only question is his comfort with the playbook and what he is asked to do once on the field.

I think that is due to Back-Ups being in-out-in and out on ST and ever changing line-up there. the St Coach is one of the best in the CFB, vast improvements over the last previous coaches as far as I can see?

The younger players have speed and takes time to develop size, but tackling and blocking have to be sure things on only 10 to 15 plays in most games?

Not really any big surprises. Very weak and shallow at Star, WR, and TE.

OL should be very good.

It is good to see Jester Weah has made 1st team.

With his speed he can be quite an asset for the long ball.

I figured Manny Stocker would make 2nd team (QB) on a run first offensive scheme.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Is Hendrix the highest rated recruit on Pitt's two deep? I expect HUGE things from that dude this season.

-If you followed camp you knew this was going to be very close to what was released Only big surprise I see on this entire chart is Henderson is the #1 wr as of today, not Ford which is very surprising and encouraging, and Camp is not the #1 backup to Jarrett. My 3rd would be Zeise losing to Idowu. Nothing else surprises me on this as everything else was reported. And Darrin Hall better have made massive improvement if he is in the same league as Ollison.

I'm really excited to see what Moss becomes. So much speed and power already for a freshman running back. We should have a streamless transition to him from Conner. Just crazy to realize how set we are at RB for the next 2-3 years.

Eh... Ibrahim still has another year left too.

At, CB I'm thinking Lewis and Motley eventually are passed by some of TR FR and or Dane Jackson moves over there and starts.

Steel, at WR, I don't think that means Henderson is #1... Given the size of his backup, it think that's just the slot WR.

-Henderson probably, and should be, used in a wide variety of lineups and plays on offense, from slot, to jet sweeps, to rb, to deep threat to anything that can get him in space. I just think it's noteworthy his name is listed first.

Suprised Edwards is not in front of Folston
Suprised Brightwell or Bradley is not above Idowu
Suprised Coleman or Miller isn't in front of Motley or Lewis
Suprised Briggs is in front of Stocker. I expected him to be better than he has become.

On the OL, you can expect JJ Smith to be the top backup at either OT, and Guy to be the top backup at OG and Bookser to slide to C if officer goes down witb Guy replacing him.

They added Edwards and Challingsworth as late additions to the two deep after the press conference. I expect all 5 DE's to play a good amount of snaps.

Brightwell and Stocker are both still only rs freshman. Also, Narduzzi & either Conklin or Harley (can't remember which) both spoke pretty highly of Brightwell in camp. Said he's very physical and a playmaker, he just hasn't developed the consistency yet. I still think he will be a good one down the road.

Less of a suprise, but I thought Webb and Mitchell would be OR, instead of Webb listed as starter and Mitchell backup.

Thanks for the clarification on Edwards.

I read that about Brightwell aslo, that he was out there layin the wood. First thing that came to my mind was a young Clint Session who would blow people up one play, then be completely out of position the next. Obviously much thinner!

-Bam Got the majority of his reps at money. They tried him at star, but were not liking what they saw, so they only want him there as a backup.

-Brightwell was inconsistent with his positioning per the coaches, but has a good future

-The Top 3 freshmen secondary players in the camp were in order Hamlin, Garner, followed by Coleman. Miller was 4th. Campbell gets an incomplete because he was injured. Coleman couldnt get the reads fast enough. Garner really impressed, but we are loaded this year at safety.

-Narduzzi called Brian O'Neill in his own words a massive offensive line talent and a sure fire pro in the NFL

Sure thing. And even though that consistency isn't there, those are really good things to hear about a young linebacker. I have to think the alignments and such will improve with time.

If nothing else, let him fly down the field like an animal looking to kill somebody till he learns the position. Me and my brother used to love watching a young Dan Mason fly down field like a missile looking to blow somebody up.

It's not noteworthy that his name is listed first of the 3 WRs. It's meaningless. Ford amd Weah are the 2 wide outs, Henderson is the slot receiver. I also don't think the order the backs are listed in after Conner means anything about their pecking order due to the slashes between each of their names. JC will get the most carries amd the rest will get their share. Hall will be very good. The coaches think very highly of him which is all any of us needs to kmow.

-No disagreement there. I mean you had Pat Bostick talking about how this guy was trying to dislocate players heads from their body every time he hit in camp. Its hard to imagine there is clear separation in the lb positions when we really need speed on the outside. But the older more experienced players held strong and are clearly ahead, per the coaches.

--The slashes dont mean anything. The live press conference means everything.

No big surprises at all on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, the star LB was a bit of a surprise.

All of this tells me we're moving in the right general direction, but we still have a long way to go to compete with the big boys.
